Let's have a more fun light hearted discussion. Do you game? Why or Why not, and how much? Which console do you prefer and why?

Personally, I am a huge fan of Nintendo.

I am a born gamer (my ID is the biggest proof 😛 ), used to play in arcades bachpan mein...1 Rs ka coin aata tha. 15 mins ki time limit thi, usme bhi main Mario, Contra etc ko beat kar leta tha. Played the hell out of Mario, Contra, Kung Fu, Double Dragon...mummy ke haatho se kitni maar khaayi hai maine bachpan mein gaming addiction ki wajah se. 😆

First console I bought was a second-hand MEDIA (NES clone). Phir SEGA Megadrive (known as Genesis in Europe)..uske baad Sony Playstation 1 li maine. I still remember I had bought 4 games (Tekken 3, Dino Crisis, Tomb Raider 3 and Small Soldiers) with it. Played tons of games on it (50-50 Rs ki pirated game CDs lekar 😉 ). Phir to main Playstation fanboy ban gayaa, next stop was PS2 aka Playstation 2. Again played tons of games on it. In between I played Unreal Tournament online on my PC to death.

But slowly I lost interest in gaming in last year, haven't touched my PS2 since months. Pata nahin, ab mann nahin karta. But I still regularly visit popular gaming forums (beyond3d, NeoGAF, Arstechina, Kotaku etc) and keep in touch with latest gaming news. Jab PS3 crack ho jaayegi to khareedoonga, I'll also need to buy an HDTV to complement it.

My fav game series is Metal Gear Solid (hence my ID). I like action, adventure, racing, fighting, platform games. I hate RPGs/RTS games.

Well the first game I ever played on the PC was way back in the day 'Prince of Persia'. As a teenager I was an avid PC gamer spending hours playing Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Operation Delta Force. My cousins had a Nintendo on which I played Mario, Duck Hunt etc.

When I came to the states, I was without a PC or a console for years. I used only college and public access PC. I was out of the gaming loop completely even when I got a PC.

Two years ago after a lot of consideration my sister and I decided that GameCube was the most worthy investment. Since then we are huge huge Nintendo fans and purchased a Wii the week it was released.

Most hardcore gamers do not consider Nintendo consoles to be a true gamers machine. However,I absolutely love Nintendo because of the value it offers. Nintendo is the most cost efficient system that has the most fun, universal and entertaining games. There are some highly acclaimed and popular video games out there.

People will disagree but Mario and Legend of Zelda are truly gaming legends. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the most acclaimed games ever and is truly a joy to play. The likes of Mario, Donkey Kong, Star Fox are simply hours and hours of crazy fun. Then there is Super Smash Bros Melee, there can be no other multiplayer game that is as fun as Super Smash. I have played Tekken, Mortal Kombat but nothing compares. The only thing close enough is Soul Calibur because it has Link. I am now stoked for the Super Smash Brawl that comes out December. Solid Snake makes his appearance in that one.

The Wii takes gaming to a whole new level. Never has gaming been so interactive and involved. It can be a workout too as you feel compelled to run around the room.

Another reason why I like Nintendo is that the game selection is good enough for my five year old cousins or my fifty year old parents.

Honestly, those people into hardcore gaming like GTA,Halo 3 and the likes you will be better of with the hardcore consoles. For me fun and value is what matters.

There are some hardcore games I do like. Max Payne, GTA, Hitman and the likes. However, I am not willing to buy an expensive console for the sake of those games. I really wish Rockstar Games would release GTA IV for the Wii, it looks really really good. But oh well I am a Nintendo spokesperson through and through. Nintendo has good games like Need for Speed, Prince of Persia and Call of Duty.

Thisshould end the debate between Wii and PS3. LOL!!!

Not a big fan of video games. But Wii looks like it would be too much fun. I would give that a try. PS is old game now. Noone really cares all that much, except hardcore gamers about PS games.

PS (Playstation) brand is still a super strong brand. Playstation 1 and 2, both sold in excess of 100 million units world wide. PS2 is still selling so well, it has already crossed 120 million. Both consoles were MEGA/GIGA hit, both had butchered their rival consoles. PS1/2 was the reason why SEGA entually went bankrupt and left console hardware business.

PS brand has made even a Megacorp like Microsoft sweat, Xbox 1 was a colossal failure. Xbox 360 has been a decent success though it could/should have done much better. Overall MS has lost billions of dollars in its Xbox project. PS ended Nintendo's era, so much so that Playstation became synonymus with gaming. Thank god for Nintendo's portable printing machine called Gameboy..otherwise they would probably went backrupt as well.

But Sony made some huge mistakes in this generation of consoles (PS3/360/Wii). Biggest was the price, it was priced at $500/600 in US which was double of what new consoles are usually priced at. It launched 1 year later to MS's XB360..it allowed 360 to build userbase. Nintendo has hit a jackpot with Wii..it has been an unlikely super success. Currently PS3 is trailing both 360 and Wii. Recent price cuts (PS3 40GB @ $399) should help it fight 360 and Wii. This gen is going to be extremely close, personally I think PS3 will ultimately emerge as winner.
