no this topic is about India

India wants to claim its position as a emerging superpower, we all proudy contemplate the day when that will happen we wait

but ever heard the phrase "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown"

So my friends here is a question with an example

Indian army for close ties with Myanmar forces

New Delhi, Oct. 1 (PTI): Describing the unrest in Myanmar as its internal affair, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor today said the Indian army was in favour of maintaining "close relationship" with armed forces of the neighbouring country. The new army chief said Indian armed forces had good relations with the armed forces of that country and "we are for maintaining these close relationships".

The Myanmar junta has clamped down on pro-democracy demonstrators in the country since last week, killing at least 13 people and jailing hundreds, sparking a global outrage.

Here are the questions for debate

What is the responsibility of you as a citizen of a democratic nation?

Do you think it is the intenal matter of Myanmar?

Do you think Indian army should still maintain "friendly" ties with the Myanmar's army?

Do you think Indian govt should ignore what happens in Myanmar?

If India were to vote for sanctions against Myanmar would you support it?

If an international effort(militarily) was made to restore democracy in Myanmar would you support it?

If what is happening in Myanmar happened in your country( women were getting raped, men were sent to prison for opposition) would you want someone interfering in your country's matter?

Ideally, I need to question my Govt...I need to question or stop my govt from supporting the milatary of Myanmar...but practically I 'm that weak (not physically 😛) that I'm scared even to question my local MLA who was elected democratically😕

Do you think it is the internal matter of Myanmar?

This is an internal matter of Myanmar....but Consider a situation of a colony where we consider the some houses of Aunty,Bunty,Chinnu and Dino...

Say , Annu is the eldest, wellsettled matured person of the colony.Say other members of the colony like bunty,chinnu,Dino...come to Annu for every thing ..say for financial support or for suggestions regarding their family matters (as Annu is the eldest one and wealthiest one ).Say Annu got some sort of moral responsibility in ensuring the well being of others in the colony.Say it happened several times that Annu solved the quarrles between the Sas and Bahu of the house Bunty..say Annu helped them several times in their financial matters.Say , all the family members of Bunty respect Annu.Say if one of the family of Bunty...is doing atrocities on the other members of the family of Bunty.and if they are not able to revolt back...agaisnt that member of the family....does'nt Annu have a moral responsibility of helping the rest of family members of Bunty! Is it fair for Annu to Say..."its a family issue of Bunty's and I cannot intrude into it and above all how does it look if Annu is in good terms with that gunda member of the Bunty family"

Say if INDIA is like ANNU in this SAARC nations....and if Myanmar is like BUNTY.....how can INDIA IGNORE THE INTERESTS OF PEOPLE OF MYANMAR😛

Please PM me if anyone understands my annu, bunty example...I can experiment these type of examples in real life too😛

If I replace Myanmar with any other country then I am sitting on fence with varying views depending on the situation. Let me strictly form an opinion on this case and will come back. 😊

What is the responsibility of you as a citizen of a democratic nation?... To demonstrate their power to smaller nations by acquring them

Do you think it is the intenal matter of Myanmar?No... We should make Myanmar a part of india again.. like it was... so we should do what we can to achieve that....

Do you think Indian army should still maintain "friendly" ties with the Myanmar's army?.. yes condescendingly friendly.... so myanmar becomes the new 4-5 states of india...

Do you think Indian govt should ignore what happens in Myanmar? ok...

If India were to vote for sanctions against Myanmar would you support it?.. No

If an international effort(militarily) was made to restore democracy in Myanmar would you support it? Yes only of myanmar becomes part of india again....

😊

If what is happening in Myanmar happened in your country( women were getting raped, men were sent to prison for opposition) would you want someone interfering in your country's matter? convert them to indians and make them follow hindu values so they become better citizens of the world

With a growth in stature comes responsibility

India(and Indians) want to claim the crown of superpower, but arent willing to think like responsibile citizenery

If Indians beleive that Democracy is the way of life, then they should not be "wah-wahing" people who treat like a doormat. If Indian/Indians do not like to interfere in others matters they should stop talking about pain and suffering of citizens of other nations and just shut up. Dont preach if you cant back it up

If you want to think Strategic Interests, we should be there as the first responders(irrespective of our ideology) By us not getting involved we have allowed China to take control of the situation, today if the UN secratary wants to make a visit, the approval has to go through China. Dont be surprised if tommorow Myanmar comes back claiming a portion of Indian land as their own and we will be dealing with a proxy war with China

From all angles it was wrong of India to stay away from this issue, if we had leaned on the Myanmarese army, their wouldnt be such a heavy crackdown in the first place

To be a Superpower you have to earn the respect and by defering on every possible decision, India/Indians are proving they are not up for the job as yet 😉

And Sandya this is not bashing, this is an assesment of India and Indian mindset, we ought to have the courage to handle some, if we want to be the big brother of the neighbourhood 😉

sareg india has always been the big brother and continues to be so. as i pointed out in case os srilanka bangladesh india has always helped by going out of the way india could have easily made bangladesh a part of india but it did not.even saarc was made with the same purpose to unite all and mutual growth but whn the ants try and eat an elephant then it get really irritating. os now i think india sld not go out of its way to help anyone.

i really dont understand the diff between bashing and criticising its diff in diff forums and it even varies for diff topics if these same things r said abt other countries then its bashing them but for india we need to face it and it varies even for diff people it will depend on who is saying a particular thing. i think if india becomes a super power it will be very good one bcoz india have never invaded attacked any country on its own.its policies r much more unbaised than the current super power.
