this is something I am hearing for the first time

I searched for it on net. and this is what I found:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system_among_South_Asian_ Muslims

It is ONLY in South Asia........ that too in Places where they have been influenced by the Hindu Caste system. other then that Islam doesn't support this. and it is not also present. there is no caste system in Islam. Knowing Islam, and being a Muslim are two different things. and as a Muslim, I can assure you that there is NO caste system in Islam!! 😊

That is what I have written. The link you provided confirms what I wrote. Muslims do follow caste system. It doesn't matter how they got influenced.

SO very true. Once I felt like I should change myself from Brahmin to SC just to get into Sidhnam college where my SC friend got admition and I did not although same %

It is indeed very sad. In India not only Hindus but some Muslims and Christians are also enjoying Dalit status and get reservation. This way the % of lower caste is so high.

Caste system is the most mis-interpreted fact of Hinduism. It was created to assign jobs according to ones capability. None of the people were supposed to be superior or inferior. But as time passed those who did menial jobs were treated as outcaste and slowly the ones above them started feeling superior to the ones below them.

if in India, Muslims follow this caste system, it doesn't mean that rest of the world follow it. and it is in the core teachings too.

don't take the example of one group of ppl and apply it to all.

Islam doesn't promote caste system, in fact rejects it. 😊

It is not just in India but Pakistan and Bangladesh too (The link you provided https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system_among_South_Asian_ Muslims). When we are talking about caste system we have to include all aspects.

No one here said Islam promotes caste system. Please don't become touchy and make a sensible debate controversial. We are mainly discussing caste system in India society.

thats a sensible debate?

When there is no caste system in Islam. then from where did Islam come from??

weather in Muslims or Christians this addition is done after being influenced by the surroundings. (that too I believe is found in a very small group, as all the Indians Muslims I know, don't follow this, and in Pakistan I have never come across it or heard in any debate or anything.)

the debate should be on the Hindu Caste system. and not of others, which is a added thing for them. Indian society majority consist of Hindus.

Muslims and Christians should NOT be brought here.

Minority or not, Christians and Muslims are a part of Indian society and the caste system is being talked about irrespetive of religion and I don't understand why religion is being made a part of this debate. As for not encountering Muslims practising caste system, let me assure you I have not encountered any Hindu practising caste system either. It is for most part I believe a thing of the past. However, there may be cases here and there otherwise.
And for the influence of the society, that I believe was the point of the debate, caste system is/was a part of society irrespective of religion.

Why? What is not sensible in the debate? I think you are missing the point here. There is caste system in all religions of India as provided with proof here. When we are discussing Indian caste system we can't avoid that.

I don't know if you know this but Indian dalit Muslims and Christians along with Hindus have reservation too. So the point is NOT what Islam has but the main topic is about Caste system in India. We have proof of what we are discussing.

Exactly and the point of debate is also pertaining to Indian society which comprises of people from all religion and caste. Caste system has influenced everyone in the society and no one can be ignored.
