I already know the answer of those ppl who don't believe in God so i guess this is directed towards those who do believe in God or some higher being.

I think the majority of religions preach that there is one and only one God. So my question is:

If there is really only one God, why are there so many different religions all preaching different things? Why does my God tell me to do one thing, whereas your tells you to do another?

Sikhism has Guru Nanank and all of the Gurus, christianity has Jesus, Islam has Mohammad, Hinduism has Sri Ram etc...........we all think of these mahatmas to be messengers of God. But why do all they bring a different message from him?

Note: I know we are all very mature individuals here and there is really no need for me to mention this, but please lets stick to the topic and not make any insensitive remarks about ANY religion. Sab ki respect kijiye. 😊

Do they really bring a different message from their god?

I think not... the words may be different, the style different, but the underlying message is mostly the same, of course, god gives messages also taking the current political, economic, social situation prevelant at the relevant time, so giving room for that, arent the messages of god similar...

God's message is same no matter what religion we follow. It is us who perceives and interpretes the way we want to. Usually desciples are the ones who give good or bad reputation to any religion or guru-swami.

then why did Guru Nanak prohibit sikhs from eating any kind of meat whereas Christianity does not have any restrictions.

Why do Jains (i think its them) cover their faces so as not to breath in anything and hence kill them whereas no other religion practices this?

Why so many religions if only one God?

Isnt the same ONE God, who manifests himself in a form in which we want to see him, so that we connect with him the way we want to... and maybe he just tells us what we want to hear at that point in time.. just a prod in that direction...
