Should parents or elders in the house change their lifestyles/habit to copy book style for setting up an example for kiddo/nieces/nephews as work commitments, working late nights, weekend late sleeping, many more etc… are complex concepts to explain to kids? YES/NO - WHY?

- What is one thing you changed for setting an example for bacchas?

PS - No it's not parent children week, but another thing sporadically came to my mind. Parent/children rel is in the air.

Well, they do need to change or adapt their lifestyles to some extent...
Eg:- strict bed times wont go well with independent thinking children if the parents had a loose schedule...
Language used - children pick up too fast, so they do have to make a change
Avoiding late hours - to give the children a semblance of family thru the week instead of restricting it to weekends....

Elders also went through that phase and later adapted whats best suited them, sudden change, why😕. Can such things be explainable to kiddos?

ohh sorry about the weekend thinggo based on my experience and lecture from elders... my nieces visit me over the weekend and snippet of conv, after that my class 😆😆

Niece – "Why Chachu wakes till late while we are asked to sleep earlier, good kids sleep on time? "

Reply – Coz Chachu is grown up and working.

Niece – " When will we grow up?"

Reply – 😕 we will talk to your chachu, he will get time out😆😆

We don't watch any shows or movies with adult content-abusive language infront of her. No raising voice in our house. No late night partying.

I dont think I ever asked "Why" so much in my life... as my neices and nephews do.... Sometimes, its just easier to give them an example and allow them to absorb it than try to explain to them.

if we believe evolution is deterioration in values.. I think elders should stay put and not change... unless proven otherwise... 😊 they are possibly our last flimsy link to what values once used to be....but children should get the freedom to mess up their lives without endorsement from elders... so its a win-win situation,.... 😊

Raj, only thing I changed is that I log on from home when they are asleep. Other than that I did not change a thing. We do activities together, go to park etc but I sleep very very late in night...specially on weekends. During weekdays, I have to wake up early but during weekends I catch up on my sleep. Luckily Mr. Gauri wakes up very early....and sleeps early too....so b/w our sleeping pattern, kids are covered😆

Rest of the things like eating in front of the TV etc....both girls know that rules for parents and kids in certain areas are a little different and do not question us. Certain other things, we do have to teach with role modeling...like going to temple quite often😊

Abhi I totally agree with you. Bollywood movies can leave some serious scars on little ones 😉 😆 They can become "damaged goods" in Cosby terms 😆
