Hi.

Do you think celebs should be the ones to represent our country infront of others?

Even though I am from Pak living in Canada, but do you think celebs should.....

Like having Aishwarya doing it, do you think its fair. Just because she is a pretty person in movies does that give her all the rights. I mean why cant it be a doctor, lawyer or someone else. Why is it always celebs??

Regards,
Amna 😊

Actors/actresses represent our culture. They are the artists in our country and I think its fine for them to represent our country. They are the face of our country on screen.

With regards to the Ash comment, she was Miss World (after being Miss India world) and therefore being one she is very apt to represent our country.

oops, i disagree with my favorite khairu here! 😳 '

I don't think that a celebrity should either represent our culture or our country, just for being a celebrity.
Representing a country in a pageant is a different story and speaking for a nation another.
I think that in depth knowledge of country, its people, its politics & history is essential for the represetative apart from having good character, being well-read and open-minded. If a celebrity possesses such qualities, I would not mind, but otherwise, i dislike them speaking for me/ my people 😆.

Also, I think that petty incidences leading to making a celebrity like Shilpa Shetty the cultural ambassodor is not only shallow, but also hurtful to those who strived in a real war against racism 🤢!

It's a very good topic 😊 What about politicians?representing India ..some of them cannot talk properly...no education..Celebraties means people look forward to them ,they listen ,try to copy them.Whoever it is but they should be well educated ,cultured, good communication power, and most important they should have done something great to our country then they are appropriate candidate to represent .

I don't think that the celebs or the politicians are the ambassadors of our country.
I think that it is we the common people who are the real reflection of what our country is.
Having lived in the USA for a long time I know that an average american is not like Bush or thinks like him or an average american woman is not like the bare-dare all hollywood doll.

Celebs are celebs because they have a huge fan following so its more logical to put them in that position..for their large section representation.although they shouldnt be allowed to talk anything... their presence should be their representation.. they should be handed a speech by the state...

Whatever little footage of Big Brother that I've seen,Shilpa Shetty came across as an Indian counterpart of the "dumb blonde"(pardon me for the use of that phrase, which I believe is your pet peeve😳)..Shilpa Shetty was being plain DUMB,she once felt Jade's comments had a racist streak, and then she retracts her statement saying the hurtful words stemmed out of insecurity and not out of racist undercurrents...I would have rather wanted someone as bold and intelligent as Sushmita Sen representing India, than someone as stupid as Shilpa Shetty

Aishwarya Rai is a woman who was battered by her psychotic boyfriend, but hushed up the entire act, only to later confess that she had indeed been abused..I wouldnt want someone as faint hearted as Ash to be recognized as the "Face of India"..I consider ANYONE,who is Indian to the core, progressive in thinking, dignified, well informed and well spoken to be an ambassador or ambassadress of India, and if a celebrity fits the bill,I for one wouldnt have any objection..But unfortunately,I cant think of ANY indian actor/actress who fits the bill....Most of the times when film stars shoot their mouths off about India and Indian people on internatonal platforms,a strong urge to hurl a rotten tomato at that celeb sprouts up

agree with Buffie, sunp..........

celebrities do not represent any country, they represent themselves to others not their country.
