Historically speaking, why are deadlines essential for the success of socitey. Are they really needed? Personally I feel they are usless 😆

frankly speaking its american fad for getting things done on time to keep the crazy chain of dependencies in order - a lot of money at stake here.....sure now go back to the project... isnt the dead-line this friday?😆

Deadline = procrastinators (like me 🤢) are DEAD after END of!
They are extremely essential for some.
for eg. I will be 65, complaining & whining about my addiction and still posting on IF UNLESS I have this last day of april deadline to submit the grant.

QT what do you do.. are with the congress or what? I need to careful if you are politically affiliated....😉

Imagine giving a 10 minute deadline to a taxi driver to get to the hospital in an emergency. Imagine him procrastinating.

Consequences may be fatal.

Oh yes! It is the same for several other professions.
But deadlines are given ONLY to complete THOSE tasks that can be DELAYED.. there is no such thing as deadline when it comes to saving a life. 😕 Also, many a times, deadlines pertain to tasks simultaneously done by several people at different places. (submission of grants, filing taxes, submitting artistic enties for competetion etc)

For many of the delayable tasks, deadlines are a must (for some people).
another eg.- TAXES- My husband files taxes as soon as W2 arrives while when single, I was seen in the late night local news- as one of the last ppl at the post-office at midnight 🤢 🤢 🤢 . There are ppl who will choose to procrastinate, unless they have to face consequences after that particular date. Uncle Sam will be bankrupt unless people are forced to have tax filed by mid april deadline.
