Temples are not public place. It is a abode of deity. Their house, their rules. Furthermore, state simply has no business interfering in any temple. Fact that Indian state loot temple money and then indulge that money in minority schemes is sad and tragic.

Right to pray.

It ultimately depends on the woman and her personal beliefs, if she wants to pray at a place of worship or wait till her menopause, that is up to her.

A temple is a public place.

Right to pray is deeply personal, guaranteed by Constitution.

If a woman wants to pray at a public place during her period - it has to do with her personal beliefs, her religious belief. If a man doesn't want a woman on her period around him when he prays - it does not justify his restriction her another person's movement, in the public sphere, preventing her from practicing her religious beliefs.

I think the whole issue has been twisted into some "women's right" or "gender equality" debate when it has nothing to do with it ..

Lord Ayyappa is a teenage celibate God which is why women of mensurating age are not allowed to visit his temple .. kids & elderly women who do not mensurate can very well visit the temple .. How does this become a gender equality or women's rights issue ? ..

As the legend goes he had promised goddess Maalikapurathamma that he would marry her when no first timer visits his temple for the whole year .. Her temple is revered as much as his ..

There is no disrespect intended to any woman .. In the modern view of leftist liberalism everything gets twisted into something else .. They fail to see that some things are so pure that their leftist ideologies can never comprehend .. It is Bhakti & Vishwasam ..
