The talks have been going around for a while that Aadhar will now be linked to PAN.
I find this absurd and think that there will be high chances of security breach .

There have been cases where we have seen,

how Privacy, security and legality are serious problems linked with this card

IMO,It's linkage to PAN will create chaos.

Lizzy, was just going to check that other thread but saw this and couldn't hold back.😃
I actually am not getting the argument of how it'll be a security/privacy breech to link Aadhar with PAN.

If anything, it will check tax evasion and do away with the mess of holding multiple PAN cards.. Somehow I am not able to buy the argument that it will be infringing upon our right to privacy.. I mean, yes, there has to be a system in place to check the authorities from misusing our personal data, I think government is responsible in holding up our fundamental rights, so, any malicious act on part of government will never be swept under the carpet. But to refuse the linkage, out of fear of being put under surveillance means that we'd forego some tax evaders and multiple PAN holders na..

IDK, you say, what is your argument against PAN-Aadhar linking..

I think if the government puts in place a system to check any misuse of personal info of the people... then I see no problem.

@ Angel
Well by' breach ' I meant
Can we trust our government system with biometric data
Signature scan, thumb prints .etc?
While posting this I came across this piece

https://www.google.co.in/amp/m.timesofindia.com/india/13-5-crore-aadhaar-accounts-compromised/amp_articleshow/58486323.cms

It's appalling that this can happen!

I m all for tax evasion prevention schemes but not at this cost.

Oh man :(

Just read about that news, thanks for posting, Lizzy.. it was so irresponsible on part of the UIDAI to leave such personal details in the open :( ..Incidents like this break citizen's trust in government, now that will be hard to earn back.

Either the government should device a system ensuring the security of the collected data, or the necessity of Aadhaar should be relaxed..
