Its routine fare for all the UCLA employees and graduate students to sign over any IP developed there to the University . If it subsequently gets licensed then they get to enter the royalty agreements and share profits. Seems fair enough .

So what was the grouse that led to the homicide-suicide!!!?

This article may explain why no mass killings took place. The student was certainly not popular in the campus, whereas the professor seems to have been liked by all.

So what next? Professors with bullet proof vests for their lectures !!

Sometimes its useful to read between the lines... In this account one thing they say is Lynch held the door shut. but they dont mention whether sarkar was trying to force himself out!! Secondly yes you do sign the intellectual property but this might be during the prep phase that Sarkar felt he was being so to say "conned". Again I am not cutting any slack for Sarkar but he looked clear in his shooting.. he didnt do any indiscriminate firing like the sandy-hook shooter...etc.it might have to do with their more or less same age that could have caused an ego tussle.. whereas Klug appeared to be veri friendly with 26-28 year olds. who testified him being nice..etc.. and Klug.. looked decent in all the pics i saw so I have no reason to calling some screwy guy...every now and then these happenings remind us how important it is to be nice to everyone... !!! its veri easy to write-off this as a case of mental illness but his gunning for specific people made him appear focused and that warrants some investigation.. and sure as hell this was not a race crime...if some people are trying to paint it that way!

To your last rhetoric. - take away the guns!!!

That is why I found it problematic when people made it a race issue instead of mental health.

Mainak Sarkar was not discriminated against for being Indian/South Asian. Mainak Sarkar was someone who could not cope with the social, emotional and psychological needs of a grad program.

If someone is getting race in the mix here its ridiculous... sarkar killed klug.. if klug had killed sarkar - that could be a race issue and we could rally saying "Asian lives matter " :)
