In all honesty, the only thing I look forward to is what he does on travel fares given the big 'son of a bus driver' hoo-haa during his campaigning. They went up almost each year when Boris was in charge. I am however sceptical of his policy on immigrants/foreign visa holders. Also, a lot of his success can be tributed to the Tories with their stand on issues like the Junior Doctor's strike. Last I heard, the BMA had about 75% of public support. Jeremy Hunt is public enemy #1 right now.

P.S. Leave vote. Which way do you think people will vote? Loads of on-the-fencers atm.

I don't see Labour coming to power in the next polls but like you said he dismisses the mould. ame, his policies are iffy and we both know certain "affiliations" attached with his name. Corbyn himself is so polarizing within labour. Meh.

Leave vote- We will stay in . Last swing vote should keep us "in". But Boris will try the Trump type tactics to make the noise , I see us sticking in though.

India Polls-
Assam -BJP
Mamta again.
TN- whichever way goes is a sad. DMK means, NDA won't like it much, they would prefer Amma.

Like I said before, MEA is totally made redundant which is why we make such silly goof-ups.

Um. I will try not to blush but he is the only sane person that I know of and it just happens he is very eloquent and has more balls than our PM . I am appreciating him. That is all. 😊

Election predictions-

Assam - NDA
Tamil Nadu- Jaya
West Bengal- Mamta

Um. Not for bragging but 😆

Uber in news again for the wrong reasons. For all the justifications they gave for their surge pricing quality of srvices seems to figure nowhere in their priority list. No verification of drivers, no safety assurance to its riders. Plain greedy Uberwalas!

If a driver dozes off, then the driver will get deactivated. Simple as that. No different than any other company dealing with employees / contractors who are found derelict.

Riders can rate the drivers too and unless the drivers have high ratings, it is not easy to remain a Uber driver anyway.

Uber is just technology that is connecting riders and drivers and giving riders options in terms of cars and payments. Apart from that, all else is equal. The drivers, the riders, the roads, the rules of the road...everything comes with the same baggage whether it is Uber or your regular taxi.At least with Uber, there's more transparency.

Why are so many of our celebrities so obnoxious in person? Followed DID religiously and Terence was always my absolute fav judge, he always gave the most neutral comments with plenty of constructive criticism. He recently came to town to judge a dance competition and while his comments are still top notch, he was putting on this horrid, fake British accent and was just completely OTT and in your face the whole time, ugh! Forget the actors, even the choreographers aren't worth idolising.

@CG - Lots of scaremongering from the govt in terms of maternity leave, house prices, travel etc. Interesting, but surely most claims are grossly exaggerated..

Right in a way but were the 4 to 5 times price surge justified without any added safety features or assurance about the quality of service? Was all that extra pricing simply being justified on account of improving availability irrespective of any other quality feature? Little surprise that there was so much protest against the price surge that was felt as unjustified profiteering. The govt had to intervene and Uber had to end the price surging in Delhi.

Well, a driver dozing off at the wheel is not acceptable, surge pricing or no surge pricing. If you agree to that, then all that remains here is your acknowledgment that you wanted to vent against surge pricing and in order to do so, you slapped some article as poster board material to do what you wanted :) It's not like the article will lose its "shock value" (driver dozing off at the wheel) when fares are normal.

As for surge pricing - riders can push the "no thanks!" button, riders can ask for a notification as soon as the surge period ends, riders can walk to the nearest surge free zone to get a ride...basically, there are alternatives.

😆 Its possible the driver got greedy and took those pills trying to stay awake and make an extra buck thanks to the incentive of surge pricing 😛

The surge pricing is displayed even though 3-4 cabs are visible / available in the vicinity in the app. The basis for the surge pricing is unclear and drew quite some public ire during the govt imposed odd-even restrictions in Delhi that also affected the commuters from the NCR region.
