NO. They're in prison, and they are deprived of some rights. If they enjoy the same rights as ones outside, what'll be the difference between criminals and rest of the citizens?
And it does not make sense, when they're cut off from the real world, the realities of life outside.
Maybe people with short term imprisonment must be given such rights.
EDIT :
This issue canbe argued for and against and IDK which one to choose.
FOR -- Voting is a fundamental right, and no person shall be deprived of his FRs according to the Constitution. Even if he is a criminal he is still part of the society, and will one day come out of the prison, and somewhere, somehow, indirectly it IS the influence of society that is responsible for his act of crime. (I believe society shapes a man, directly and indirectly...although ultimately, it is the man himself that is responsible for his acts/what he chooses to become. But both influence one another so... )
AGAINST -- When a man could not uphold the law as a responsible citizen, where's the meaning in according him voting rights?!

How can the prisoners vote when they are not allowed to go out of the prison ?
So in such a situation the ruling party should first imprison all the opposition members and deprive them of their right to vote. They will have a better chance of winning .

Tll recently prisoners were eligible to contest elections so whats the big deal if prisoners are allowed to vote? Some prisoners like vikas yadav (undergoing trial for murder of sister's fianc) are allowed to attend family functions , festivals and also discos. Postal ballots are possible if at all going out is prohibited.

Prisoner's should be allowed to vote once they have served their sentence and returned to society. While they are in there they are being punished and therefore due to the nature of the crimes they commit should have their rights revoked. Yes there are issues with criminals that have undergone a miscarriage of justice and those wrongly imprisoned - I would not mind them being given the vote. But serious and repeat offenders who have been unequivocally proven to be guilty should temporarily lose this right until their term has been served.

Petty criminals should be allowed to vote once they have served their sentence and returned to society but felons should not be allowed to vote
