The problem lies not only with the student body, but with the professors. When there are no consequences for ragging in college, why would students stop? I give more responsibility to the college authorities who allow this type of bullying and mental/physical trauma in the name of "fun". In fact, students who often complain about ragging are given punishments by the professors. 🤢

^^ If the professors themselves indulged in ragging their juniors it is possible that they continue to believe that it is a fine practice. Some people are incapable of seeing things objectively and get defensive. Some others may be scared of the connections that some of these students may have. It could be political connections or the goonda elements that is not very uncommon. Unless the professors or the administration is assured of their own safety they would succumb to such pressures. People may not have much faith in law and order and end up making the situation worse than it is.
