I don't know whether this has been discussed earlier, But I guess this topic is very relevant in today's age.
I see a lot of kids today on their Ipads watching videos, whatsapping on their mobiles and hooked to their pc's..
I feel gadgets have made the kids handicapped..They are so addicted to them that they can't live without them..It has become such that kids live on that pseudo happiness they get with playing games on their tablet, whatsapping and all..Even parents are happy enough to keep their kids occupied with the gadgets so that they aren't disturbed.
This kind of things end up making the kid distracted..I have seen instances where the kid can't concentrate on doing one single activity..Their concentration level has weakened..Gadgets have become a substitute of happiness. Children have stopped indulging in activities..Instead they sit at a place for hours...They do not indulge in family discussions..I feel that kids should not be exposed to electronic gadgets very early.

There was a time where free time meant reading books or indulging in some activity. But now it isn't so..
So what do you all think? Should kids be exposed to electronic gadgets at such a tender age?

I am not talking about e-learning here..Its about the excessive use of gadgets the kids indulge in..
And also about e-learning, It ends up being a substitute for classroom learning for kids..Actually it should help in facilitating learning ..

Anything in limit is always good..But when children are exposed to gadgets at a small age, they end up misusing it...And it happens in most of the cases..

I myself threw away my smart-phone and reverted to using a basic model of Nokia. 😆
And, no, I'd never expose my child to electronic gadgets, until a certain age...I've decided, even if it'll cause me to divorce my husband, I wont allow any kind of 'smartphones'/smart gadgets in my home once my baby is born. I'm going to be very strict on this.
It's such a pity these days, watching my cousins as young as 2 to keep poking their little fingers and nose into the smart phones...babies who cannot even speak are ''pacified'' by handing them smartphones, showing something on smartphones, this really angers me. The parent looks for an easy way to calm down their babies... these days, the kind of parenting the kids are given really scares me, I'm lucky, I was born in the 90s!
And, thanks to stupid apps on smartphones, parents record rhymes and other songs to play it to their children even before the child starts to cry.. What kind of parenting is THAT?! So sick, so sad for the babies. How about teaching them manners, building a character?
I remember when I was small and if I asked for something only more than once, just one *look* from my papa or amma was enough to 'calm me down'. Manners were given such importance and was a serious issue back then. If we went to a relatives' or family friend's home... manners were to be followed religiously, no touching this/that, no overaction or jumping around, no stupid questions, no sloppy dining or any other etiquettes, any slight deviation from being mannered, was "viewed very seriously", then and there and after coming back home.. I feel we were much civil back then... 😕
If I'd ask for something in a supermarket in a very pleading way without even loudly demanding for it or making any noise, my parents would give me such looks and scold me then and there, and even after reaching home I'd be given "warnings".. such was the parenting THEN.
Now - I dont understand why some people even take the "responsibility" of parenting.
Speaking of older kids(above 14) using whatsapp etc, I think they're old enough to realise what is what. Cant say more than that.. I agree with pseudo-happiness, that's why so many are attracted to it! This again lies in parenting... parents themselves are whatsapping, what more can you expect from the child?! I dont get the concept of texting or whatsapping at all... I used to text my so-called friends once upon a time, I'd feel as though I am pulling away "my time", my existence from the daily life, used to feel as though I wasnt "here and now" while at home. Hope that made sense.
NOTE -- Sorry if this post has offended anyone.

In a trending world electronic gadgets is unavoidable but it is also hazardous aswell, Parents should have a check of check of their kids at a age were they cant take a right decision.
