Reservation for poor upper caste ppl????

Dear Friends of IF!!!!

A very good morning to all of you.Let me put before u the topic for the debate

"Reservation for poor upper caste people'

The main purpose behind reservation was to bring up or uplift the downtrodden section of the society.But in the present scenario the downtroden section of the Indian Society is "Upper cast Boys"

Imagine the fate of an upper caste boy.For him to get free seat in the university he should be in first hundred ranks.This may be impossible to all upper caste boys so they join by payment seat if they are financially stable.Imagine the horrible state of poor upper caste boy.

I feel poor people immaterial of their caste should be given reservation if at all reservation is compulsary in this India.Pls feel free to put forward ur veiws.

I don't get the part about the castes. Could you explain further?

Otherwise I sort of get what you're asking. I think people should be given entry to college based on their merit. But it's somewhat the same in the US if you want to get into Yale or Harvard or Princeton. You need contacts. It's unfair that people get into such great schools because of their parents. I guess that happens in India too. It's terrible for students that deserve to be in the college to be rejected because of this crap.

Yeah!! I do agree that admissions should be made only on the basis of merit.But...if at all reservations are to be made ,I feel that reservations should be given to only poor students with average merit.You see!!! There's nothing great if a student from a doon public school gets 1st rank in IIT JEE or AIIMS entrance and government need not help such person.Consider a poor person in a remote village of India who gets some rank in 100's I feel this person should be given reservation immaterial of his caste whether he is Brahmin,Kshatriya or Harijan.
