Yes I know what happens when one dies. There are many theories and many experiences of people and some of them seem different.
Normally in most cases our soul goes to the Astral plane, which some call the spirit world. From there we have to work our way up.

We can't really say fir sure, can we? Why do you think people are afraid of dying, other than leaving their loved ones behind, the life that they know, their wishes etc... is it not fear of unknown?

Answering philosophical questions on DM. 😆
Because it's more interesting than death. Something is better than nothing. And I can off myself anytime, which I guess isn't possible the other way around. So, it's like the best of both worlds.
And I also got many things to do.

Summer, I promise I will keep it between us, but have you been to the other side and back? 😆

Everytime we sleep and lose consciousness of everything around us, we are on the other side.
So yes I have been there many times.
Living in this world is like having an internet connection.
Anyway living and dying is all in the mind. We are born in delusion, live in delusion and die in delusion. Our so called "living" could be someone else's dream. I am come to realise my own insignificance to the whole Big Picture.

Fear of death is due to ignorance they say. Life should be lived to the fullest and opportunities fully explored and exploited.
But yes attachment makes it very painful to leave our loved ones behind. Of course, if our body is in very bad shape and no longer repairable, it is best to say good bye asap. But we should try not to go before our parents. We owe them that much.

RIP
Rest in Peace
I have attended several prayers for the dead where the dead body is displayed. Some of them still have a glow and an aura of peace. I guess the type of life we lead determines how we look on our death bed too.

We really are insignificant in the big order of things. But isn't everything insignificant on a large enough scale?

If such a thing happens and we don't remember it, is it really us that goes?

BTW, this was just a tongue in cheek, I hope you read my other post too?

yaavat jeeveth sukham jeevet
runam krutwa ghrutam pibet
bhasmi bhootam shareerasya
punaraha gamanam kutah?

this is chaarvak philosophy..

it means while you are living, live happily,
take a loan , but drink ghee ( it means live luxuriously )
our body will become ash one day
we'll never get this particular body ( life )again ! :D

chaarvak was a great saint. he was like budhha ! he preached non violence and vegetarianism and peace.

Yes living in this world seems more interesting because we are dealing with a less subtle world where the senses have full play and everything can be seen, felt, heard, tasted etc
Death would be pretty boring in that sense.
But once old age and sickness sets in the same body that gives pleasure also gives pain.
I think if we never grew old and sick, many would want to live on forever and ever.
