Hold on. India attacked East Pakistan only after West Pakistan launched attacks on Indian air bases, then how did India start the war?

What are you smoking? When did I say India started the war? I am done here, clearly you are mixing up things way beyond my understanding. Cheers.

Just for the record... my two mentions about the '71 war.

And on a completely side-note, I believe India had no business poking it's nose when East and West Pakistan were dealing with their issues, they were one country, we should have stayed out.

The air strikes on Indian Bases were a side-effect of the Liberation War of '71.

Edit - messed up quotes, see my response in red.

Also axeion don't forget the massive human rights crisis that had built up in Bangladesh as a result of Pakistani army slaughtering civilians. West Bengal had to take in Lakhs of refugees. Once this happened, India became party in the war to protect its interests. And the air strikes on Indian bases were the final spark that ignited an all out war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

Your wish. As I see it, you couldn't find a new excuse to blame India here. So peace out, and in my opinion mutilating anyone's body is extremely pathetic. The people who did this should be severely punished.

Sorry but that's not how the world works though.

Has US really blamed itself squarely for security lapses during 9/11 ?

Has UK blamed itself squarely for security lapses in 7/7 attack ?

Does Pakistan blame itself for the problems in Waziristan ? (they blame US btw)

No country does. We don't live in a utopic world. The seed of the problem is not in India's jurisdiction.

Why should India make an exception ?

Whilst I agree that there were some internal issues, there is a huge problem with infiltrators because the border is extremely porous (due to the geographical terrain). If the US and UK can't prevent terror strikes on their soil, then what chance does India have ?

As a US citizen (unfortunately not Korean) my biggest question to my government is why 09/11 happened? Where and why did our intelligence fail? What could we have done to prevent it? I'm upset as to why we blamed other countries (even those that had nothing to do with it). I'm furious why my country wants to send soldiers to war over everything. I'm furious why I have to sacrifice my fourth amendment rights to make up for incompetent and lax security. I'm furious why we are going into debt sustaining a bloated unnecessary military budget?

That is what is important to me as a citizen, and I encourage all citizens to question their country and government. We can blame whomever and whatever, but no country improves without serious hard questioning from the inside. But as a citizen of your country, it is your choice whom you want to blame or question.

I mentioned this a few pages back :

Yeah lets put the blame for 26/11 on a) BSF b) Insiders but lets not blame the Pakistani infiltrators. Likewise, shouldn't Pakistanis put the blame for 1971 on a) racist attitudes of their own politicians towards Bengalis b) Depriving Bengalis of resources c) Isolating East Pakistan in every prior war and compromising their security to protect West Pakistan. Why blame India ?

I am so sorry I don't fit your bill of perfectly patriotic citizens of the country, but that's fine. Atleast I know I do look at the flaws of my nation, than just praising it all the time.

ps - And I agree with your comment about mutilating anyone's body. That is totally unacceptable and inhumane, and should be condemned.

That's called a debate and it is completely natural. The awareness that was raised will have consequences, of course.

I never said that you fit a bill or not because for one I don't even know what country you are from. And I'm no one to judge who's patriotic or not. I don't even understand where that's coming from.

As for finding flaws in my country, I have countless threads finding flaws with India including some posts at the begining of this thread. And a fairly long post last night in the "Delhi rape case' thread.

But I just don't agree with putting the blame squarely on India for what happened in 26/11. Just like I don't believe that Pakistan is to be blamed squarely for 1971.

Thank you for reminding all of us..I accept I have unknowingly contributed to it myself...couldn't stop myself when I saw traces of people defending the killing...
