HAHA @ admire. Thanks for being so effusive.

Do you remember the back and forth we had on memories and how they are stored/retrieved in the brain? Figure out what "language" the memories are stored in yet? Is it just the synaptic connections or is there more to it? Are they even stored in our brains?!

And how about rejoining the God debate? I value your inputs and look forward to reading your posts on that subject. Some of our views on that topic coincide.

No problem. lol. Yes I remember. Memories are stored in different areas of brain. In short when you experience something it consists of several sensory stimuli (visual, audio etc). Each is then processed in their respective areas in brain and then from there channelized to a central area where whole experience is constructed. If the experience is strong (several other factors influence that like emotions, repitiveness) then it is selected as memory. Later when we retrieve same area recreates the experience with help of individual sensory areas. Therefore they too have a role and hence there is no one area where memory is stored.
I am cutting my explanation as I noticed this is very well explained in following links. lol
@ God debate. I concluded that we cannot prove God's existence based on current understanding of science. Therefore I shifted the debate from God versus randomness to intelligence versus randomness as origin of life. Considering what I have studied (mostly biology) I do not think that humans can come from randomness. Just see how complex the memory process is. There is no need, no condition, no environment that could have led to all this. Randomness can lead to formation of building blocks of life (even that is a stretch) but it does not explain assembly of those into what we are. This is not a simple thing as coming together of pieces over time. This is a complex design and I dont know who but someone out there designed us.

Australia showed India that the game of cricket...But I think some time loosing is good to make team perfect ...HOPE our team will learn from the defeat and bang in other games. 😊

The Hunger Games have surprisingly captivated me more than I thought they would. Despite having watched the movie first, the book was engaging. Now I'm curious what will unfold in Catching Fire.

Anyway, the next series I want to read is The Millennium Series. My sister has the series. Normally we would just share books like we do with our shared collection of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia etc. The problem is that she downloaded them on her Kindle. I have a Nook. There is no feasible way of sharing books unless we hack the systems. I'm not sure that I want to buy the books just yet.

Then I remembered my classmate reading the book. So I asked her if I could borrow it later. She said sure and will give the books to me whenever I want to read.

Wow, what a novel concept! People actually sharing their books with each other. I wonder if the future generations will be able to enjoy life of such simplicity. I shudder at a future where sharing a book becomes a complex technology task.

I am afraid my question wasn't so simple.

From your second link, I would like to quote the following:

"This doesn't mean that scientists have figured out exactly how the system works. They still don't fully understand exactly how you remember or what occurs during recall. The search for how the brain organizes memories and where those memories are acquired and stored has been a never-ending quest among brain researchers for decades. "

"Although a memory begins with perception, it is encoded and stored using the language of electricity and chemicals. "

I was asking you about this strange "language" of electricity and chemicals. What is this language? Can we use the same language grammar to record whatever memories we want in our brains?

To extend the question: say you saw the movie Sholay and you remember each and every line, each and every visual. To correspond that with a typical DVD technology, the language used in the latter is a 650 nanometer wavelength laser diode light. How is your memory of Sholay recorded in your brain? Can anyone walk me through that process?

I concur with most of what you said but if you break it all down into simpler and simpler processes down to the quantum level, it is nothing but chaos there, nothing but randomness. The challenge is to map that disorder into the order that we know and see. The challenge is to understand what is it that is goading the apparent disorder towards orderliness.

there are specialized websites to accomplish this. like lendlink for example. i don't know much about them though as i don't read books / ebooks.

@RTH- I read The Hunger Games about the time it was first published...recommended it to loads of friends and they only started reading it once the movie released. They never listen to me when I recommend the books :\ I enjoyed the movie when I watched it, but in retrospect I guess it wasn't nearly as thrilling as the book.

I've watched the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I haven't found the time to read the whole series together, hopefully I'll do that soon.

@Minaz- I enjoyed Barfi, beautiful scenery, amazing music and acting by all three however I don't think it should have been put forward for the Oscar nominations.

LMFAO I checked it. Seriously these fanatics take the show very seriously - something to worry about.

In two words - epic failure😛.
