Of course, not! Haven't you seen The Notebook?

Just kidding. That is one disease that I don't want to suffer from nor do I want anyone around me to ever suffer from it. I think that's possibly one of the worst forms of death. To die not knowing the life you have lived or the people you have loved. Just the thought of it makes me shudder.

I know it's easier said than done, but I don't think I could ever leave a loved one when they needed me the most. But I'm sure it would kill me inside a little everyday, knowing that he doesn't know who I am anymore. It's a terrible thought.

NO. not at all.
It'd be a great burden, but I'd feel great pain and probably be broken at what has happened to my loved one.. I am assuming/sure that I'd love my spouse, so, no...I'd never leave him like that, even if I have no love for him. I'd stay and take care of him, shower MORE love on him till both of us die :'(
EDIT : Aarya, did you ever watch A Beautiful Mind? ..it's a heart-breakingly beautiful movie...here, it's a story about a Schizophreniac mathematician. The way his wife stays by him inspite of all the burden and risk is amazing. A heart-touching movie. A movie that's a true love story according to me.

It's based on a real life story of a Nobel Prize winner BTW.

^ A beautiful mind is an amazing movie. I think that was the first movie I watched on my netflix, and I've watched it several times after :D.

@OP

I know the first answer I'd wanna blurt out is a "No way", but after I think a little deeper, I really don't know. I always believe it's important to place yourself in a certain situation to discern what it actually feels like. I hate having to give myself (and the other person) any sort of false hope, and by saying "no never, I will not leave" might be a temporary satisfaction in the relationship. On the contrary however, I don't know if I might stay "til death do us apart". I don't know because I don't think I could handle so much pain. Also, I do not believe in "forever", because nothing is forever. That being said, I might not divorce my spouse solely because he suffers from total Dementia, but if him being ill (like for Alzheimer's) escalates to a point that he needs help outside of my love and care, I'd be glad to give up what we have.

For all I know, letting go is the best decision I'll have to make for his happiness, if not for mine.

Reminds me

The story of a blind girl

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, "now that you can see the world, will you marry me?"

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:

"Just take care of my eyes dear."

The good thing about Alzheimer is that you meet new people every day...

@*Woh Ajnabee*...I agree with you that you should never leave the love ones when they need you the most, but then what if that loved one leaves for someone else cause they don't remember you...

@Angel-likeDevil...It's easier said than done! The Beautiful Mind, indeed was a great movie, but I had always wondered that with out Nash's madness, could he have been only another of the millions of people who have lived and then been forgotten and did his ability to penetrate the most difficult reaches of mathematical thought somehow come with a price attached...

@attitude.ash...I don't believe in "forever" either, and in the end we all look out for our best interest at hearts, so if letting go is what's good for both then I cound't have agreed with you more...

@mr.ass... I feel euthanize is being harsh, the person suffers from alzheimer where they have forgotten but have not forgotten how to live life...

@Summer3...Truly a touching story! I guess love is blind...

@Prometeus...I guess for people who have been unhappy all their life can truly be happy now cause everyday is a new day, a new life, a new person...

@Star_on_earth.. if only your remembered...
