Topic does sound simplistic and too wide but I guess it is good to know what we should look for.
I believe it varies between individuals and each person values that which is dearest and are willing to give up their lives for it, rightly or wrongly.
Some say knowledge is power others say Character is power because once one is in the right one aquires the moral authority.
But these days looking at the Middle-east I see that "might is right".
Question has also been asked as to what we should pray for.?
Some say that often we ask for the wrong things and what we should pray for should be for peace of mind. Others say we should ask for nothing.

My question is, 100 people will state 100 different things as their priority. But how are we going to ascertain which one is truly the most important.

Mine are:
1. Knowledge
2. Duty (the usage of knowledge)
3. Honour (using knowledge righteously)

There are a few assumptions as pretext.

Life = Human life.

Life is comprised of breathing O2, exhaling CO2 and hence blood circulation. Otherwise it would be called death.
I understand that it does not mean that a person is mobile i.e. physical and mental ability.

Also, since OP is asking about just a single thing (and not things), all I have for the most important thing is mental ability. Most of the things can be achieved with mental strength (i.e. intelligence).

I would love love love to add physical strength along with mental strength but hey... OP did not ask for 1 or more things. Providing a long list is futile.

That was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek remark, not a serious contribution to this thread, but guess RTH beat me to it in her first response. Guess some people lack our humor. 😉

Okay, excluding the basic necessities:

- Family & Friends
- Internet
- Books
- Movies

If I have to pick one, then surely family & friends.

I don't blame you. I always take him seriously as well and can't imagine him being funny. I never get when he says something to be tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic or funny as I read everything he says in the same tone.
