I don't think Wal-Mart is the right for Indians. On one hand yes, it will provide low cost one stop shopping convenience to middle class convenience, but it has long term negative repercussions on small scale local economies. Their price cutting essentially drives out all small retail stores and establishes Wal-mart as a monopoly. Their distribution agreements are also toxic, they use their clout to tie distributors and suppliers into unhealthy, unprofitable, long term deals that are impossible to renegotiate or back out off.

The United States is finally in the trend shift away from big box retailers to family owned local stores and farm fresh produce. Although more expensive up front, sustaining local economies is more competitive and profitable in the long run and they reinvest directly in the community.

Moreover, I would miss the India with my little vegetable and fruit vendors, the many little clothing shops, the neighborhood danewalas.

I know that ASDA is owned by Walmart but if you walk in to an Asda it is nothing like the Walmart you see in US. It's supposed to create a lot of jobs and I can imagine it will it terms of food suppliers, the clothing line will probably be made and developed in India too (just like we have George in Asda) however the fact is that money will be leaving the country and that won't do us a lot of good. Hmm I dunno, I can still imagine the doodhwala coming to deliver a packet of milk every morning so that my grandparents can drink their tea in time instead of driving out every day to get a new carton of milk but I may be wrong. For many locals it'd still be easier to go to Gandhi market to pick up their vegetables or any other necessity than to drive out in to Mumbai's busy roads to go to a supermarket. No doubt the middle class people will benefit the most. Also, places like Kingcircle shut down completely on Mondays (which I used to find very frustrating!) and at least now there is an alternative! :)

Subject: The Monk who's Father is Billionaire
This is an amazing story- I have always believed that a man who has made a great deal of money cannot be considered "great" unless he is genuinely humble- it is very hard to find rich people who are truly humble. This is an awe inspiring story and many wealthy billionaires and powerful people should learn from this story...
Many of us chase wealth for ourselves but this is futile- chase wealth by all means but it is imperative that ALL the wealth you accumulate is used for a noble purpose, to alleviate suffering, to provide livelihood training, to establish charitable foundations-but whatever the application, this must not be trumpeted for a truly charitable heart needs no publicity...
Blessings on all and may God, whatever name you choose to call Him by, for He is the one and the same God, bless all of humanity and bring sanity to this wealth crazed world...

The monk who flew in a jet By business bhutan | 01 January 2011

In 2008, as my friend and I sat down in the restaurant to eat our dinner, we saw a man in the hotel lobby. Immediately, we assumed that he was alone so decided to invite him for dinner.
"I don't eat dinner," the elderly man declined the offer, "I am on my way to the gym."

The next morning, I met him in the hotel lobby and noticed that he was wearing the same clothes.
"Excuse me," he said politely and then looking at the young monk sitting next to me, said affectionately, "Son, it is time for us to go home." The son obediently picked up his small cloth bag from the floor and followed his father.

Earlier, curious to see a monk in the Uma hotel in Paro, I had started a conversation with him.
"Yesterday was my father's 70th birthday and he wanted me to spend it with him in a special place," the monk informed me. The monk could have been in his early thirties. He had short hair and was wearing saffron robes and had a pair of slippers on. "What a beautiful country you have? They had flown into Paro in their own jet.

So who are these people? The elderly man is Ananda Krishnan and the monk his only son.
Krishnan is the second richest man in Malaysia. According to Forbes he is worth 7.6 Billion dollars. The Tamil Malaysian of Sri Lankan Tamil origin is a self made man and is a notable philanthropist but leads a low profile life. He and his son are both Buddhists.

Few years ago, the billionaire lost his son. He started to look for him and his search stopped in a Buddhist monastery in north Thailand. Shocked to see his son in saffron robes, short hair with a begging bowl in his hand the father invites his son for a meal.

"I am sorry; I cannot accept your invitation." Like all my fellow monks, I have to beg for my food." Krishnan's reply made headlines, "With all my wealth I cannot feed my own son."

The son still lives in the monastery in the forest of Thailand and like all the monks in the
monastery depends on other people's generosity for his sustenance.

Hearing stories like these one wonders if we are giving up everything that we already possess to acquire things that we really don't need.

This story clearly demonstrates that human contentment and well being in real terms requires us to go beyond physical, mental, and emotional dimension. Krishnan's son clearly shows that detachment could be a greater wealth and devotion, a bigger asset in our lives.

How did they manage to censor cum? 😲

I've been trying to get my internet cum free for ages. I am afraid of opening threads in some forum because of all the cum lyks. I don't care if you come or go, but please don't cum online, or at least don't cum on IF. This is not that kind of forum. Ok, you can cum for Sunny on Big Boss section i guess. I wonder when IF will ever become a cum free zone.

I was also surprised by the inclusion of bumblefcuk in the list. That is a very American slang term that I did not know was being used in Asia. The funny thing about bumblefcuk is that its not even sexual lingo. Bublefcuk just means middle of nowhere. Its a jibe at small towns and hicksvilles. Where the hell are you from? Bublefcuk, Wisconsin?

I wonder what their opinion on SNAFU, FUBAR and Clusterfcuk are.
