Doesnt India need an Oprah?

hey everyone .....

im a great fan of Oprah winfreys and i have always wondered how it would be having someone like her in india....wouldnt it be nice to have something like "The oprah winfrey show" here?

i mean that would be such a refreshing thing after all these same old bahu saas serials?

i definetly think it would be a great thing..something that would help the masses discuss problems as well being something to entertain us. the only thing im not sure is if india is ready for something like it ...

what do u have to say about it?

I think the Kiron Kher talk show started few years back was something similar. I remeber seeing a few episodes and the show discussed some bold topics.

Ya Oprah winfreys is gr8, good talking power, experience lady,one of the richest women in the world bt now a days she only doing in her show marketing her products like a bussiness women, I india Tv we need a lady like Oprah, when you look other places like politics or bussiness and other institutions we have lot of Ophrah's in our hand.😃

oh yes i have a lot of respect for Oprah . And i did watch the Kiron Kher show too and she was perfect to play Oprah's part . I doubt its still around though .

Yes India is certianly ready for an Oprah Winfrey to discuss problems and even look for solutions as Oprah does .

i kno there are a lot of pioneer women in india but then there ar hardly any that REALLY stand out and do stuff for people...the only one i can think of at the moment is barkha dutt....

india is ready for an oprah as aparna said. but are the indians ready? maybe in a few metros they may be but then every metro has someone like balasaheb thakre and other self appointed guardians of the society! remember how many theatres were burned down when fire was released. did you guys hear about the arrest of a tamil film star kushboo for having made a remark that virginity these days is no big deal. the actress had to apologise to the public after politicians (all of them male - ironic isn't it?) created a hue and cry on her comment! so like i said earlier are indian ready for an oprah? if they are, will politicians debunk them 😆 ?

I never knew of this Khusboo incident .😆 I bet they would have stood in que to be the first takers for some one's virginity, but hypocricy is certainly ingrained in our minds !😉

Yes , we can't have some one very bold and saying things in an outrageous manner . Since Indians are highly senstive , emotional , hypocritical , holier than thou attitude often ...................i suppose it will have to be a charismatic woman with Indian senstivity !!

aparna then most subjects like rape, domestic violence, sex change in one twin (i saw that episode last night)men/women leading double lives etc will all become either a sensational issue or something tame and mild. remember the public is watching! the hypocritical holier than thou attitude will never permit us to reveal anything let alone attack the root cause of the problem so we can handle it!

O.K i want to ask did any one watch Kiron Kher shows ? What kind of issues was it tackling ? why did it go off air( or did it) ? Maybe how that show did it can throw some light on it .

Oh yes , wasn't there another talk show that had "Rajni"(the old serial) as the compere ?
