I don't think I was born because I decided to be born. I don't remember I ever had that choice.

If the start was not my choice, what good is choice during the middle or even at the end?!

What I believe is that our souls are the free spirits..before coming in this world we decide what kind of lessons we want to learn and we choose the kind of life we want...if that is not free will then I don't know what is...satya yahi hai...sitare aur genetics sab mayajaal hai...

Free will is a choice. Most realize they were born under studied reasons, and that stars and planets are better read as Astronomy than Astrology. I dun understand too how stars mark anything about my existence, but then as for free will - I know I shall grow out of this and be where I can will freely. I have to make a choice, that's that.

Are we puppets or prisoners of Fate ?
Why are rewards never the same for all?
Why are we all born unequal?
What is the role of Karma?
Are we really just one or separate beings?
If we are all mere puppets then surely Karma has no role. But then why are rewards never the same?

Yes there are questions upon questions and they never cease. Answers are often vague and they seem to keep changing. It can be very frustrating too. But there is an inner Guru in us to guide us least we go berserk.
Also no matter what Or how we view things, through effort we can expedite our release from the grips of ignorance.
Ego is born when consciousness appears (of the gross and subtle planes). The personal "I" is born, and through ignorance false identifications are made.

Maharaj ji said discover the "I am" state and from there go beyond to the state of pure awareness or the witness state.
To live in ignorance is to suffer Hell.

I read that as a start have a God or Guru to guide as on the route we may meet many dangerous animals.

Is generics our destiny, or not, if not than what is our destiny and what controls our destiny?

~Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you're right". We have the choice to believe that we control nothing, or that we control everything. What's it going to be? ~ H. Ford.

If asked, what are you, the answer would be I am a human being! The human life is given meaning through the relationship which the individual's conscious goals have to the civilization, period and society within which one lives. It means taking upon ourselves to create a world which is both keep the future safe and free. We always have a choice, of being free and of free will.

Why wasn't the start your choice (relevance to the 21st century)? To bring a life into this world is a choice.

My start was not my choice, it was my parents' choice.

My question has to do with the "overall" life and not parts of life.

"I am going to put you in Marja, a Taliban stronghold in Afghanistan, in a family of 12, tending to sheep for a livelihood surviving drone attacks and yeah, your freewill starts NOW!"

Wait a minute, shouldn't you ask me first where I want to be born, if you are going to "grant" me freewill?! Show me some samples and may be I will pick one. Or may be I don't want to pick any sample at all, how about that?

Life in general or overall is a choice, if you choose to leave or not in such circumstances is your choice. You always have a choice. The notion of free will, freedom of the will, comes up when thinking and talking about consciousness, because it seems, or at least it sometimes seems to some people, as though free will is inextricably linked to consciousness. It may seem as though we have free will if and only if. There will always be a IF. The parents had a choice and so do you!
