But Bush isn't spying on all American Citizens, or else I would be totally against this, becuase I'm in America too.
George Bush is just spying on thoes who he believes are associated to the terrorists. If they are not, he's not going to waste his time to spy on them. If they are, he's helping America out.

Vishesh, Ok I gree that we should cooperate with security at airport as they are checking us for our benifit and we should not make their job harder.

However, I would still like to repeat that "American law usually requires a secret court, known as Foreign Intelliegence Surveillance Court to give permission before intelligence officers can conduct surveillance on US soil and according to this new act by Bush adminsitration is both illigal and unconstitutional." Now I think that if they want to tape someone or spy on someone they can always get permission from this "secret" court. It's just that justice will give you persmission. Becuase we have seen president turning into dectators slowly in many countries. This is extreme I am talking about, but still giving too much powers in president's hand is not "democracy"! I believe in judicial system and there should be permission taken before you take any step towards their citizen.

bgdesai i may be repeating what Bush administration said in their defense. Getting permisiion from the court means delays under red tapism and beaurcracy . Often these are time sensitive , when the intelligence has information about a certain phonecall thats going to be made between terrorsit groups there is not enought time . Maybe its a weekend when the court is adjourned or its holiday time when judges aren't available . And they must intercept a call that would help them stop a terror attack . Thats how i understand why a President in this enviorment when the U.S is under Orange alert ( i think its Orange now)he must take any action thats neccesary to keep his counrty men safe.

Yes, aparna, but think this way..now this act is being enacted due to terrorism, but what once everything settles down? Do you think they will demolish this act and take away its power from the system? This is somethign to fear. It may be misused over the years. 😕

I don't care if BUSH tapes or listens to my conversations. I don't know him & I don't know his people either. I would be funny if he listens to my talks over the phone. He will go crazy because when I talk to someone in India, all I ask them is if they are doing OK????? 😆

I don't think we have reason to fear that , because this act was done for the safety of the people . Whenever this world becomes a safer place ( hope fully soon .........but i don't see it happening 😔). Since there is enough reason for them to fear public opinion . Like i heard somewhere , things don't remain Oval Office's secret for too long and do eventually leak out . I don't see any President ....Bush or his predeccesor taking that risk.
