I forgot what we have to do with them, actually.

Yes if our attention wholly drawn towards the future or if we live in the present then memories do not mean much.

I think love is complete when one has a child. The depth of love a mother feels is hard for men to understand. It is a height which most men can never reach I think.; at least not for me I know.
And if I could feel so deeply I doubt I would be able to handle it.

Wise cracks can provide new perspective I think.😆
But ulitmately we have to Empty our minds like Empty Bhai, before moving to the last stage.

Came across this old piece of advice

desiderata - by max ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I remember the 'good' memories quite well whereas I tend to only remember the effect the bad memories left on me.

I have a lot of memories from childhood, school, uni etc but if I was asked to choose one in particular that meant a lot to me or one that really stood out and I'll never forget for the rest of my life, then I wouldn't be able to.

I guess to me it's those little things that make such a difference in my life. Let's see if that changes in the next 10 years or so.

Yes good memories are a wonderful thing.
Sometimes if I think very deeply I tend to forget everything around me and get completely absorbed in the memory which then becomes real.
Living and life is an experience in the mind I guess. Emotions add colours.

😆 You are funny, Kiddo! I am sure it will be same for my daughters too. Who doesn't want to leave school behind for good😆
Another land mark down the memory lane for me will be when my girls graduate out of High School and start College.

I think I have a poor visual memory. Sounds, smells and feelings are stronger triggers of recollection for me.

One childhood memory that excites me and makes me a kid again is the drive back from a party with parents. My dad would drive, my mum would nag him and I would climb into the boot of our Maruti 800 and lie watching the streetlights woosh over us.
Now I'm too big and old to do that. :(
