The best thing about visiting London was the Tower, Buckingham, the beefeaters and the royal guards, and the changing of the guards ceremony (of course the pink cabs, red phone booths, and the amusing 'humps' signs you have all over).

If you get rid of all that, you better find something cooler for your dull drab old rainy overcast island.

I'm afraid I don't know the whole British National Anthem either

I think a lot of people don't know it, even some of the footballers that should. You always see some of them mumbling it lol

I've noticed that a lot of people aren't 'proud to be British' and it's quite sad. They constantly talk about how bad the system is but never complain when they benefit from other policies. It frustrates me and one of the few times I saw the country and in particular the youth so interested in the country and its future was during the elections in May so that was good to see.

@empty: Xo's right. I was having this convo with my dad the other day and I told him that I thought the royal family was useless and he was telling me that I'd be surprised at how much tourism it brings in. He said he still remembers the last royal wedding (Charles and Princess Diana) and people went absolutely crazy. People stayed up all night near west london to catch a glimpse of the couple and it did indeed bring in a lot of revenue.
