I really had some data from an old economist article on corruption, cannot seem to find it, very interesting article on how this stifles young developing nations from racing ahead of competition.

Here is a quick google find though

On the 2005 corruptions index, India ranks a poor 2.9
Western Europe fares the best in the 9s (10being the highest) and the US 7.6. I do not know if I am allowed to post links, so I am not.

Indeed India is trying hard to make a mark, but there is a lot of work and catching up to do.

And Jas, no offence intended in all of this, I am only posting my views based on my experiances. I really think the Indian system values human life very shabbily. I have learnt this the hard way.

And Dubey in this particular case was a friend of a friend-

rindam, no offence taken. this is a discussion after all. i agree human life seems to have no value in india. actually being an indian m yself and having lived and grown in india, i find the double standards rather heart breaking. people are progressive only in words and never in deeds. that way yes, we have a lot of catching up to do. but this is the legacy that the brits have left us. corruption, might being right, sword speaking louder than words etc are all a part of the inculcation that people have got over years. where else will you find a penniless dacoit, going on become an Mp and die a millionaress?

a lot of catching up my friend indeed a lot! but we will one day. hope makes the world go around. as long as there people like us who feel and know we can make a difference, we will catch up one day!

Wow Jas that is indeed a very optimistic view. 2 cheers 👏 👏
For starters we can begin by getting rid of the vicious blame game we indulge in, accept our shortcomings as a nation and craft our own paradigm of success that is truly Indian.
Well Manjunathan's family will get a compensation of rs 26 lakh,) i do not know if it is a small consolation but at least we should not let the spirit of other manjuthans die.
