Battle Royale is a game as well as a military experiment. It is based on a book of the same name. the government kidnaps a bunch of students and drops them on an island. They have to kill each other until only one survives. If no winner emerges in a certain number of days they all are killed.
While the film is a violent extreme, it can be taken as an allegory for a world of extreme competition where we have to put others down in order to survive. Is success worth destroying others - or is it better to cooperate?
Sounds interesting. I'm a fan of symbolism, and I have a thing for dark themes. How was its reception?
