LOL, Hindi and Punjabi have many similar words, so I know what you're talking about. 😆

When it comes to Indian movies I tend to be a sucker for the sappy romantic running around trees sentimental feel good candy floss and chocolate type of films. You get the gist.

As for movies in general, I have watched ton including foreign films. I love movies. So just ask about any movie and I will tell you what I have heard about it or if I have seen it, what I think about it. Discuss any genre, theme etc. So many movies, that I usually need to get nudged in a direction, otherwise I will write an epic over movies.

That is on my to see list. That and Suicide Club series. I have read a lot of rave reviews about the film. It is very Lord of the Flies like in theme and showcases the dark side of human nature.

The question to ask is : Will You Play the Game?

Sappiness and filmy dialogues usually turns me off, unless they happen to be in the right proportion.

Anyway, my favorite Bolly movies of all time would be DDLJ, KKHH, KHNH, Hum Tum. I can watch these movies over and over again without ever finding them to be monotonous.

How many of you prefer reality cinema to commercial ones?

I have watched lots of foreign films. European, Latrin American, Chinese, Korean, middle eastern e.t.c. We have this annual film festival in Kerala where they screen finest movies from around the world. One of the most acclaimed film festivals. Movies come in the compettion section from lots of countries.
(I'm no critic or anything, but love watching good movies😊)

It sad that most mainstream movies are just dumb romantic, running around tree movies.
But at the same time there are world class movies by filmmakers like Ray, Aravindan, Mrinal Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, John Abraham, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, P. Padmarajan e.t.c. Their movies have won great acclaim and loads of awards in International film festivals. Hope that new commers will follow their footsteps. But the problem is our generation are not demanding good movies. They like watching romantic, chocolaty movies alone.

You must be ticked by now wondering why Debu is the first person to quote you.😆
Realistic movies are what I like. they often portray strong and important messages and you can relate to them. However, you need a bit of commercial movies for pure entertainment purposes. It makes you go into dreamland and think "What if.....?"
On common ground, I think both make you ask rhetorical questions.😊

Battle Royale is a game as well as a military experiment. It is based on a book of the same name. the government kidnaps a bunch of students and drops them on an island. They have to kill each other until only one survives. If no winner emerges in a certain number of days they all are killed.

While the film is a violent extreme, it can be taken as an allegory for a world of extreme competition where we have to put others down in order to survive. Is success worth destroying others - or is it better to cooperate?

Completely seconded! An equal proportion of romantic flicks and reality cinema is what is required. Personally I'm a fan of art films. They engross you and makes you think hard. They show you the ugliest side of the world and human nature, instead of focusing on all roses and love. It will have a profound effect on you; at times it can totally change a person, his thought process, the way one perceives the world. It sure will make an impact on you. However, at times our heart craves to see heroines running through the grasses, and the hero playing guitar.
