I agree with JALK and myviewprem...to some extent.
Yes Anar is the only one who is concerned and also the impact of going to war at such an early age do leave impact.
But still I feel it is too early to confess love
A gradual realisation would look justified. It is like throwing too much in mouth that we can not swallow and relish the taste. Why are the makers in hurry? Are they the same who made Prithvi Vallabh?
Lakshmi, the new promo is kind of a cumulative summary of the story shown so far.
When Saifu was introduced, she was shown as a daughter of a tradesman. At those times, tradesmen did have a better social status and standing than slaves and servants. She was used to the ways of nobles till she found herself suddenly stranded in the desert with an housekeeper. They were forced to act the part of kaneez' in Akbar's court.
If Salim is still a child, she is also a child in some ways. Not everyone in Akbar's harem treated her the same. Salim and Jodha treated her as a lady' while Akbar and Hamida Begam treated her like servant'. Even the other kaneez' treated her with respect and gave importance to her. She is conflicted as to who she actually is. With Salim, the one who kind of saved' her from her attackers in the desert, she kind of recognized herself with him. He was the only one who treated her liked she was his "equal. Added to that was her somehow stumbling onto the conspiracies and finally his banishment(kind of) deepened her conflict regarding herself even more.
Coming to Salim, he was like every other kid, naive and innocent. He believed Daniyal and Murad's words and trusted them. When the boat overturned and he found himself drowning, he didn't understand what happened. Even when Abul Fazl gets blamed, he is not shown to tell about these two. But what made an impact was Anarkali being with him in his time of need. She who tried to protect him ignoring her own peril. Who cared more for his life and health than her own. Especially when he had not treated her nicely from his perspective(like hitting her on that elephant when she wins the game or when he laughs at her when she falls into the water).
Akbar might not really know how Salim ended up in that condition on the throne, but Salim did know. As a child he might not have understood the motives of Daniyal and Murad, but being in the war fields for 12 years has made him aware ot the truth. Of Daniyal and Murad's duplicity.
When Salim sees Anar he says that "moon has risen in his sky after 12 yrs). Sun gives light but also burns. But moonlight is gentle and warm. It gives a person a sense of peace and respite. Because of Ruqayya begum's conspiracy, Jodha's letters doesn't reach Salim. But Anar is shown to have found a way to reach him. And it is her letters that have been giving him the solace that he did need every night after a tiring day of war training or fighting the enemies. It gave him the inspiration to keep going. Even before he saw her, it was her memories that kept him grounded. This was shown with Salim writing shayari's and Mahabat knowing all about Anarkali whom he had never met. She was the one thing that was real and belonged to him.
His coming back was only for Jodha's sake, but Anar also held a huge attraction for him. She was the one person whom he wanted to meet on coming back. So for him to confess his love for her in such early stage of the series is not that much of a leap. The makers did try to show his longing by showing him constantly looking for her from the moment he comes to the door of Agra fort. No one "longs to meet a friend that way nor gets angry as he does. But the screenplay and editing is slightly choppy which is making it hard to connect the dots. Like Hamida begum scene with the fakir shown in between Salim Anarkali meeting scenes. The reason for showing that in that way was to kind of say that on one side Salim is building a relationship with a servant girl while his family is expecting something else from him.
I don't think the love proposal is early in the series as the story actually starts with it. This love has to grow to the stage where Salim cannot live without Anarkali in his life. He has to go to a destructive stage. The difference, misunderstandings and disappointments between Akbar and Salim needs to grow too alongside the love story. There is a lot of story filled with a lot of drama waiting for us. 😆 😆
