Message to the mentors:
I wish DID2 had more Indian Dancing. I would love to see more bollywood numbers or bhangra or garba. Just something ethnic. Getting really tired of contemorary, hip hop and stunts. Just need a change.

Yeah, DID is starting to become a synonym for contemporary. People judge contestants on the basis of their contemporary skills 😕
I really want to see more of Indian classical/folk in DID!

As much as i like the hip hop and contempory dances i also want to see more classical indian. Kruti was just mindblowing in her performance and i think the public is not just voting on performances but appearances and popularity which in my opinion is a shame.

Well, when some people do any dance or no dance, fanatic fans will vote for them. But when excellent and trained classical dancers like Kruti do a dance, either classical and not her style, she gets less votes! Same for Tashu too!! Then trained Contemporary dancers like Punit and Shakti can excel in their performance and win the award but will be in bottom or even eliminated in no time!! Didnt we see all that in DID-1?? Vrushali, Mayuresh, and Bhavana got eliminated way early while Prince and Sunita topped the votes week after week, and dancers like Jai was puyt in bottom almost every week!! People dont appreciate Inidan dancing unless it involves stunts like fire, breaking glass, walking on nails, etc!! Why put the dancers at risk and in pain for the sake of votes?!

"Indian dancing....." is asking for too much. The reality is because we live away from India, we tend to appreciate, value, preserve the Indian dances much more. And, then there is nostalgia, memories, good-ol times sentiment associated with it.
Back in Des sadly those who share similar sentiments don't usually vote(political/apolitical)😛, that's a trust issue and lets not go there.
DID is a wonderful stage for drama, comedy, emotional atyachaar, be humble beta, uplift the stammering, tongue-in-cheek, beauty n the bumpkin and then some
Dance - excellent, good, mediocore,copy-paste, inspired, perspired et al
All the above add to the entertainment value of the show which raises the TRP and millions n millions 😉 vote for the most 'promising' Dashing Dancer, who would ultimately be the star😳
Where then, is there place for Indian dancing ? 😕

I think there needs to be an equal balance of both contemporary/western (Hip Hop/B boying/etc) and indian (Bhangra, garba, whatever---not a whole lot of bollywood cause its repetitive at times)

@SunBright - all that sarcasm duly appreciated 😉 You hit the nail in the right spot. Indians away from India come to appreciate Indian art forms more because we feel the need to preserve our roots. Well, the youngsters in india don't seem to think so 😕
It's good that India has caught up with western dance styles and they are excelling in that 👏 At the same time, we need to save our traditional art forms too. Else, our grand-kids will only get to see dances like Bhahnatyam and its likes only on you tube or whatever technology prevails in their time 😔

I agree with you!
It really seems that some people abroad are more "indian" then people in India
Here where i live, there's like 4 gurdwara's and you'll see most of the indian people there on Sundays. Also, there's a few Mandir's here also. Most of the indian kids i know have been in punjabi school to learn how to read and write in Punjabi. Im really proud of us Indians abroad that have kept the indian culture going 👏

Jess,
We NRIs are so afraid of losing our Indian heritage-Culture...We try to hold on to it as much and tight as we can...We pick up local culture where we reside to learn some of their ways at the same time not forget our roots..
Where I am we have mandir, Gurdwara, Jain temple, Bal vihar...lil Kids attend balvihar each sunday morning..local temple teaches different language...
It is a good thing and I am proud of us NRIs...This is why I am so proud of Tashu for representing US....And that is not the only reason why I am proud...She definitely is very good at what she does...I still remember her audition performance...and B-W finale dance...
Young ones in India want to be westerners and are not worried about carrying their own culture while NRIs pick up local culture and try holding on to their own...My 2 cents..
