Remember when you were young and your grandmother used to tell you bedtime stories until you fell asleep?

I'm sure you do.

You know what was the best thing about it?

It was the art of listening to a story while letting your imaginations visualise the story in your mind.

"It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story. "

The above Native American saying couldn't have been more accurate! To write a story is a one thing and to tell a story is another thing. Both are essential in getting the story across to the readers.

Where I am going with this?, I hear you ask.

Well.. we've had story contests in the past. So why not do something different? Something a bit more challenging?

Are we up for it?

So without further ado, let me present to you...

What is different about this contest?

You must be wondering!

[DIVIDER]

You have to write a Drabble of exactly 150 words on

the theme of Romantic Mystery.

Simple, right? I say, no!

What you have to do with this drabble once you're wrote it, is record the Drabble in your voice from a narrative perspective.

Bring in the emotions, the right tone, the haunted silence, the happiness.

Every emotion that your story is trying to convey.

Bring it all in your narration.

Let me demonstrate it for you.

For example -

Entry 1 - (Written)

Looking down in her lap, she ran her fingers on the photo scan she had beautifully adorned in her photo album. Our babies, the album was called. The album contained six photos in total. Photo scans, to be precise. She let her fingers roam about on the scans as her eyes shed the uncontrollable tears.

It had been a long journey to the happiness, indeed. She lost a lot to reach where she was today. She wasn't complaining, of course. But the dull ache in her heart refused to subside. If anything, it increased each time she went through Our Babies. Her husband had done everything he could in his hand to explain her that what happened was not her fault. But somehow, she found it hard to accept the explanation as a mere choice of destiny.

Entry 1 - (Recording)

The Drabble must be no more than 150 words.

You may add background score for a creative narration.

You MUST create your own characters. You CANNOT use the existing fiction characters.

Strictly NO copying or plagiarism! Your entry will be a straight disqualification from the contest.

Do NOT use abusive/provoking language and always keep in mind the rules and regulations of IF.

Do NOT advertise your work through any medium of communications, be it your friends or fellow members.

Maximum two entries per person.

The deadline is 31st December 2013 23:59hrs IST
