I didn't get, if he has voter id card, then how govt identified that he is pakistani

Probably Government checked the visa records. There was one case of a Pakistani that came to watch cricket match and has since then been untraceable. This guy on the other hand must be one of the traceable one perhaps due to enrollment in college etc.

Imagine the number of illegal ones who would have crossed borders silently and living like locals..

How easily the illegal immigrants are roaming in India And still govt is asking them politely to leave India All of them should be put inside an airplane, taken up in pakistani airspace and pushed from airplane

There might have been some record of him entering (since he had entered legally)

Since he didn't return, government might have tracked him.

Shows also how easy it is for government to see such acts don't happen but they are still not ensuring it
