India chokes in ODI finals vs Pak???!!

Here's the statistics of finals between India and Pakistan:

1. India vs Pakistan 1985 Tri series(In Australia) Final- India Won by 8wkts.

2. India vs Pakistan 1986 Australasia Cup(In Sharjah) Final- Pakistan Won by 1 wkt. (Javed Miandad Legendary Sixer Special)

3. India vs Pakistan 1991 Wills Cup (In Sharjah) Final- Pakistan Won by 72 runs.( Aaqib Javed Hattrick & 7wkt World Record )

4. India vs Pakistan 1994 Australiasia Cup (In Sharjah) Final- Pakistan Won by 39 runs.

5. India vs Pakistan 1998 Independence Cup (In Dhaka,Bangladesh) Final- India Won by 3 wkts (India Chased 315 to win with 1 ball to spare !)

6. India Vs Pakistan 1999 Pepsi Cup (In India) Final- Pakistan Won by 123 runs.( Azhar Mahmood 5-38!)

7. India vs Pakistan 1999 Champions Cup (In Sharjah) Final- Pakistan Won by 8 wkts.

8. India vs Pakistan 2008 Kitply Cup(In Mirpur, Bangladesh) Final- Pakistan Won by 25 runs.( Since 1999 this was the first ODI Tournament Final between arch rivals).

So Pakistan clearly has a better record in the ODI finals against India.Out of the 8 finals played b/w the two teams, Pak has won 6 and India has won only 2 games.
On most of the occasions, India had played very well throughout the tournament but fallen to Pak in the final (eventhough at some occasions they had beaten Pak in the group matches!)..
I feel Pak and India are strong contenders for the Asia Cup... so r we going to see another Indo-Pak Final (and another win for Pak? or maybe India would avenge?)

What do u ppl think is the reason why India has been pretty unsuccessful in beating Pak in an ODI final? And why has Pak been losing the T20's against India after coming soo close?

I think the main problem is pressure. India are a very very strong team with only youngsters in our team and this is a very new team indeed and to have won soo many tournaments with such inexperienced players who have very little if none international experience. I think the fact that the average age of the team was 23 and that Dhoni has only recently been captaining, he did a wonderful job because we lost by 25 runs! I won't argue at all, Pakistan were no doubt better on the day but atleast we provided some competition 😊
I have to admit-in India vs Pakistan Final there is whole new atmoshphere to it which I enjoy a lot!!
I feel it is always pressure which has give in to the team and since this is a very young team, I hope we overcome that disadvantage! This team is here to stay and I do wish them all the luck and hope they break this jinx! 😊

I agree with you about India being a young team now and lacking in experience...
But I'm not talking about the Trination Final at Dhaka...I was talking about all the rest of them as well..
India didn't have a young team all thru those years till the previous final in1999... The record shows that Pak has been more successful against India in the finals since long time back..lyk it starts from 1985!!! Only now India r having a young team but not always..!
I just wanted to know what might b a reason.... coz there r more Indian cricket fans here than Pak fans.. I just wanted all of your viewpoint coz u must b knowing your team better as I know mine..

Oh ok, sorry I don't think I can comment too much on that then because I haven't been an avid follower of Indian cricket for soo long😳But I think my main reason will still be the same no matter what team. India in general haven't been able to cope as well with pressure and thats why they give in sometimes no matter what stupendous form some of the players are in! India usually starts off on a great note but we buckle during the end unfortunately

But I must say one thing, this new India is out there to change history and I wish them luck in doing just that! and now they have my support too unlike over all these years na😛😆

Wow! Tfs.. i didn't know that pak team has done well against india in finals.. Pak is a very unpredictable team and pressure is something that our team can handle.. I think pak team has done well in pressure.. do u agree ?

i think the only problem with our team is that they cant play under pressure. Like india lost early wickets but they played well under tht pressure and lost by just 25 runs. They lost 6 wickets on 197 but still they managed to make 100 runs with their 4 wickets. I think Dhoni did really well. If pakistan loses early wickets then they lose rest of the wickets too. 😕 But my team did great in final....i simply love tht... 😳

Welcome to Cricket forum ... I don't know about pakistani team.. coz india vs pakistan final was the only match i saw in 1 year.... Normally i watch Englangd's match on setenta.. But i guess all the sub-continents teams cannot play in under pressure ..be it sri lanka or pakistan..do u agree?

I don't think pressure makes the Indian taem perform badly! Infact, I think they perform well under pressure. 😊
