This weeks's topic is about the Indian and Pakistani Cricketers, and their english.

It is very weird to see them talk, even though some of them have great faces. I mean when they open their mouth they dont sound good. But they are good at playing.

So, who thinks they need to learn how to speak English?

Now its question time.

Absolutly..because a captain represent his team in a presenatation.

4) Why do you think they should or shouldn't learn it?

Well they should because by speaking in english we can communicate with all the ppl around the world. it wud be clearly understood.

5) Any other comments?

I think if a player has difficulty in speaking english then ICC shud let them hire a interpretur . We wud lyke to understand what the player is trying to tell in his inteview. And sometimes his comments about the opposition or about anyone else coud be misunderstood. So it wud be much better that the player shud either learn english or he shud hire a interpretur...

They should only know English to the extent of answering questions... if they cant speak more than that i really dont think that makes any difference at all!... yes,, if they know english lyk an Aussie or New Zealander then its a bonus, but knowing english, wat will it give us???? we wont get aything out of it, they wont get anything out of it... so i really dont care at all about their speaking levels.. i just want players to play, which is what their main focus is!

2) Who do you think speaks the worst english?

No one... i never judge a player on their english, so to me... no one speaks bad english!

3) Should the Captain atleast know how to speak it?

Like i said before, if they can understand the commentator and answer the question hes asking then thats about enough.... i dont care how good or bad players speak... after all, we must understand the situation thru which asian players go thru to get into cricket! they mostly cant get time to study after their first yr. of college or even high school ... whereas english players will always know english whether they have gone to school or not! so i never feel ashamed of anyone's english at all! whether its a pak player, and indian player or any asian player, english shud never be a real target of rciticism!

4) Why do you think they should or shouldn't learn it?

If they have spare time and feel they can learn more while having tough cricket schedules then they should... but 4 me, a player's performance is more impressing than their english!

I would just like to say, that Asain ppl in specific feel ashamed of the way their ppl might speak... but i feel thats very bad and shameful itself... Looking at a sportsmen, u look at their performance and not their english or anything else..... yes, they should know how to speak english in some way.. but knowing it down to perfection just for the sake of looking nice and appealing, is not right! players dont have to feel bad and start going crazy to speak english to perfection if they cant, just to please us.... i judge every player on their performance not on anything else...

I dont think they need to learn English..I mean..they shud only b able to understand the question of the commentator and answer it and just convey their view or comments or watever! However, if their English is soo bad that they cant even understand or express wat they want to say, then they shud learn only the basics..(I dont think there's any cricketer whose English is so bad!)

2) Who do you think speaks the worst english?

Worst is a big word..I think every player (atleast Pakistanis) can express wat they want to say...they dont use the perfect language but others can understand wat they want to say! Kamran Akmal doesnt speak good English
but again...he does convey his message!

3) Should the Captain atleast know how to speak it?

As I said, he shud b able to express his views and answer the questions in the presentation.. Perfect English is not necessary....he shud b able to speak wat he thinks or feels!

4) Why do you think they should or shouldn't learn it?

because they hav lot of other things to do..still, if they really want to improve their English, they can do it thru institutions etc..just as Shoaib Malik is doing.

Speaking English is not everything..A sportsman's work is to play..so we shud look at his performance rather than his English!!!! If he speaks good English thats an added advantage...if he doesn't, then its nothing BIG! Cricket or any other sport is not about speaking English!
People are too much concerned about cricketers not speaking good English!Its just because it is the language of most of the cricketing nations like England,Australia,New Zealand....and even South Africa(many English ppl there)...They dont need to learn English as it is their own language just as Urdu or Hindi...So there's nothing to b soo concerned or criticise our players for not speaking good English...as its not their language! 😊
