This is wat Ricky Ponting had to say about Pakistan and India's exit from WC... even though hes ryt as to how they didnt deserve going further, i just think he stated it in a rude manner, as i did see this on tv, and the Aussie coach did state how he felt regarding pak and indiaz exit and he said it in a a more positive way, but ricky ponting showed a bit arrogance wen he stated all the other teams deserve wat they have accomplished...... .......and then he even said that bangladesh and ireland shud be more competitiv , as they r in the super 8's now.

ST PETER'S/ANTIGUA: Australia skipper Ricky Ponting made light of India's early exit from the cricket World Cup, saying Men in Blue did not deserve to be in the Super Eight.

"Both India and Pakistan did not play well and made their exit. If you don't play well you don't deserve to be there and this happened to those two teams," he said.

Ponting was asked whether the World Cup was poorer with the first round elimination of India and Pakistan and the outspoken Aussie shot back, "Why the World Cup be poor. They did not belong to Super Eight league, they failed to perform and did not deserve to qualify. Why not give credit to Bangladesh and Ireland. They played well and deserved their place in the Super League."

"Ireland performed superbly. They are making their debut. They tied with Zimbabwe and knocked Pakistan out of the tournament. You just can't take away this credit from them. Bangladesh surprised India so they are here so why not praise them,'' the 2003 World Cup-winning captain said.

He said no team in the Super League could afford to underestimate Ireland or Bangladesh as "they are tough sides and upsets are part of the World Cup. That is what makes it great. We have full respect for Bangladesh and Ireland and we take them very seriously. They are capable of creating more upsets,'' Ponting added.

oh c'mon , we just need a reason to criticise someone instead of looking at it practically .

what Ponting said was bang on and truth . He didnt beat around the bush nor use sugar coated words and why should he . I mean didnt so many criticise their team for various reasons .

Look why should we expect Ricky Ponting to give diplomatic answers and sugar coated statements . He was asked for his opinion , he gave a straightforward one , whats there to be upset abt.

when we ourselves use harsh words to criticise our players , why shouldnt he . He was asked abt India's and Pakistans exit and he told them that we didnt deserve coz we didnt play well enough and frankly we werent up to standards and bangladesh and Ireland deserved their place .

isnt this the truth and what was rude in this is beyond me .

It was a simple straightforward to the point answer , thats it and unfortunately we cant answer him back coz its the TRUTH
