With barely two days to go before the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Sydney from Friday (3 January), there are disquieting reports of head coach Gautam Gambhir losing his job! His handling of the crisis following the downward curve of his team since the Perth Test has not gone down well with some of the senior players!!

If GG removed from the team as coach of Indian Team, then who will be the best choice for India and why??

Most of the news articles are just faking about sacking and resigning. Nothing is decided yet i guess.

They will make a few changes based on Sydney test results.

I think we need someone fresh, someone who actually has an understanding of the current set of players.. or maybe we should have Dravid back. He actually led them well!

Now we need a separate coach for T20 and another for odi and test. For eg VVS Laxman does not want to travel the whole year with the team. So he can be coach for only T20 maybe.

I highly doubt he'd be removed let alone immediately. I can see, however, this turning into a Langer situation, so whatever. If he were removed tho, I think someone lowkey and chill would help build a mostly young team.

I highly doubt Jammy would ever come back to this situation lol.

Whether the news is real or fake, GG is not the reason alone for the failure.

If he needs to go then we need someone who is cool and composed & strong and experienced. No, I don't have anyone in mind.

Cheers..

Bring Rahul Dravid back then.

He is the backbone the wall of Indian team.

As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding Gautam Gambhir potentially being removed as head coach of the Indian cricket team. While some reports hint at dissatisfaction among senior players due to recent underwhelming performances, these remain speculative. Appointed in July 2024, Gambhir has been vocal about prioritizing team strategy over individual styles, recently emphasizing that “the team takes precedence over natural game” in a press conference.

It is also worth noting that the team’s recent struggles can largely be attributed to the failure of senior players to deliver in crucial moments, which has added pressure to the overall team performance.

These discussions often arise during challenging phases, but without a formal statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), drawing conclusions about his future would be premature.
