Another gripping day of Test cricket. One day left in this final and this is the equation - Australia need 7 wickets | India need 280 runs. The Aussies batted conservatively in the morning session and scored just 78 runs for the loss of two wickets. They batted far more aggressively post lunch with Carey and Starc adding 93 runs for the seventh wicket which allowed Cummins to declare with one and a half sessions left in the Test. Chasing a daunting total, the Indian openers scored briskly. Green pulled off a screamer at gully to dismiss at the stroke of tea. But India kept the scoreboard ticking in the final session as Rohit and Pujara looked in good touch. The Indian captain fell to Lyon in the latter's first over playing a sweep shot and Pujara followed him in the very next over playing an uncharacteristic shot. Australia had their tails up but Kohli and Rahane ensured that there were no further setbacks. Not only did they remained unbeaten but they hardly looked perturbed as they forged a 71-run partnership.

6.02pm Stumps An excellent last hour for India has the game in an interesting spot. India still need 280 on the final day. Australia need 7 wickets. The pitch flattened out a lot this afternoon. Virat Kohli looked in sensational touch for his 44 not out from just 60 balls. He and Rahane, who is batting with an injured finger, shared a half century stand. Tomorrow is appointment viewing for cricket fans.

Australia are still the favourites but don't rule out India. Their run rate has been above 4 throughout this Test. The pitch has hardly misbehaved in the fourth innings. Alex Carey: I think we have the runs on the board, always look for more wickets, but they played well (on Rahane and Kohli). We'll have another chance tomorrow. Looked good to me (on the Green catch), we were happy and the right decision was made. It's not great to see them scoring at 6 rpo, but we pegged them back, quick wickets does help and we'll look for more tomorrow. I thought Mitch (Starc) played beautifully, attacked at the right moment and took the pressure off me. A tricky little period in the morning and we got over well. Class players, this is a good partnership, we need to remain patient, hit the right areas and hopefully the wickets will come.
