Incase you missed it.

The first session of any Test match is very crucial and we can safely say that both teams will be quite happy with their effort in this session. India started off in a positive fashion with Rohit and Mayank went about their business in quite a confident manner. However, Rohit departed just when he was looking ominous for Sri Lanka and then his opening partner Agarwal also could not build on the start he got. India's new number 3, Vihari and the man playing his 100th Test, Virat Kohli ensured that there are no further damages and overall India will be quite happy with their scoring-rate in this session.

The pitch had little help for the seam bowlers at the start but Vishwa Fernando failed to bowl at consistent lines and lengths. Lakmal though was quite good but it was the extra pace of Kumara that brought them their first breakthrough as Kumara got rid of dangerous Rohit Sharma. However, the star of this session for Sri Lanka was Lasith Embuldeniya who bowled with great control and his change of pace trouble almost all Indian batters. He got the set Agarwal and it will be interesting to see how he and Dhananjaya de Silva bowl in the afternoon session. Remember, they are playing just one frontline spinner with Dhananjaya de Silva, the spinning all-rounder. The afternoon session is expected to be as absorbing as this one if not more so stay tuned for the post-lunch session
