MERI AWAAZ SUNO! Hrishikesh Pandey

Hrishikesh Pandey, last seen as Abhimanyu in CID Special Bureau, now features as Shikhar in the Star Plus daily Viraasat. "The character has shades of grey and even resorts to blackmail," says the actor. "Moreover, I am thrilled to work with Ravi Chopra again. I had featured in his earlier show Kamini Damini on SaharaOne as well."

Hrishikesh also recently did a cameo in the SaharaOne daily Sati, playing the character of Pankaj Desai, Sati's rival lawyer. He has another show lined up but prefers to speak about it only when it happens.
Though hailing from a family with an army background, Hrishikesh began with commercials and music videos. Acting happened with Balaji's Koi Apna Sa, followed by Kahani Terri Merri.

Hrishikesh on Shaadi Street
< =http://www.filmyduniya.net/index.php method=post> </>
Friday, 10 November 2006
newer avenues: Hrishikesh Pandey
Low-profile TV actor Hrishikesh Pandey, last seen as Abhimanyu in CID Special Bureau and Shikhar in Viraasat, is playing the lead role in Deepti Bhatnagar's new Star Plus show, Shaadi Street.

Says Hrishikesh, who also did a cameo in Sati, "We have finished shooting for the show and this is the first time I'm playing the lead."

Hrishikesh began with modelling and music videos. Acting came his way through Balaji's Koi Apna Sa, followed by Kahani Terri Merri. Hopefully, his Shaadi Street will be the path to newer avenues

Chat Interview With Tejali

Transcript of LIVE CHAT with TV actress, Manasi Varma at 15.00 hrs on Thursday, February 24, 2005 in Mumbai

Manasi Varma
TV actress

"I don't think the TV world has casting couch"

Jidf > Hey Monalika urf Manasi, how are you? How long is it going to be before you step into films? What offers do you have in hand?
Manasi Varma > Very soon I am going to be stepping into movies. Offers are coming in, but I am bit choosy as in which to take up for a good debut (In films).

Sweet_rythm24 > How do you feel about getting such popularity?
Manasi Varma > Very good, I feel great!

Isha > Where are you from?
Manasi Varma > I am from Mumbai, and I am a Punjabi.

V222 > How did you start your career as actress?
Manasi Varma > First I went to Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting school. Then shot a portfolio and started meeting people. I started going for auditions and finally Balaji selected me for Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii (KGGK). It's my first serial.

Kish > Manasi urf Monalika – are you married?
Manasi Varma > No, I am just 20 years old.

Czx_123_poi > Hope you are fine and fit and Very PRETTY and GORGEOUS as you ever are.
Manasi Varma > Thanks. Yes, I am. It really takes a lot to maintain that.

Lali > Have people really told you that you look like Zeenat Aman? How do you feel about it when you are compared to Zeenat of yore?
Manasi Varma > I feel on top of the world. I feel good because Zeenat Aman is the woman, and I am getting compared to her. It is a big compliment! A lot of people have told me that I look like Zeenat Aman, Isha Koppikar and Nethra Raghuraman.

Kish > Are you in love?? Are you still studying? You are from which college?
Manasi Varma > I am currently doing my BA through correspondence. I was from Mithibai College. No, I am not in love.

Baka > If films don't click for you, will you return to TV? Are you going to quit TV if your film career doesn't take off?
Manasi Varma > TV is where I have got my instant fame. I will never ever think of leaving TV.

Mannie > Who inspires you?
Manasi Varma > Sridevi, Bipasha Basu.

Lali > If television hadn't happened to you, what would you have done? Manasi Varma > I had two things in mind - either interior designer or an airhostess.

Rehman > Is participating in a beauty pageant one way of making into the entertainment industry? How much did the Gladrags help you?
Manasi Varma > It didn't help me that much because I was quite young (18) when I participated in the Gladrags contest. It didn't help me much. I had to go and give auditions and people used to see my acting and not what background I was from. But Gladrags was a good learning experience. It did discipline me as Maureen Wadia (Organiser of the event) taught us lot of things.

Deluxe > Hey Manasi, do you like acting? You look stunning babes!
Manasi Varma > Thank you. I love acting because I don't feel as if I am acting.

Kish > What food do you prefer to eat, generally? Are you a vegetarian?
Manasi Varma > The food I prefer to eat is home-cooked food. And I love Chinese. I am a non-vegetarian.

Letsgetorgasmic > How do you maintain yourself?
Manasi Varma > Previously, I would just climb stairs of my building and take walks but now I have joined a gym and I eat the right food.

Letsgetorgasmic > Why don't you do some meaty roles now? Are you looking for any?
Manasi Varma > Yeah, something might just happen soon and you will see me in a different role on TV. Look out for it!

Stuti > How is it being a TV actress?
Manasi Varma > It's very good but it's very hectic too. It's not easy as it seems.

Twix > Hi, you are a great actress. Was this dream or was it all of a sudden?
Manasi Varma > Thanks for the compliment. This was a dream!

Anupam dash > Who inspired you to become an actress?
Manasi Varma > Sridevi (actress).

Letsgetorgasmic > Will you also strip just the way our pals Mallika, Neha etc do for glamorous role?
Manasi Varma > No, No, No, No, No!

Kali > Who's your favorite character in KGGK?
Manasi Varma > 'Parvati' (Sakshi Tanwar). She is a sweetheart. She is also a Capricorn like me. And she has really helped me in the beginning when I used to get stuck in my scenes.

Letsgetorgasmic > Manasi, does the TV world also have a casting couch? Did you have to compromise?
Manasi Varma > No, I don't think the TV world has casting couch. And, I haven't been through any such thing.

Twix > When is your birthday?
Manasi Varma > 11 th of January.

Anupam dash > Tell us about your hobbies please.
Manasi Varma > singing, dancing, travelling and shopping for clothes.

Twix > Who is your role model?
Manasi Varma > I have no role model.

Mili > How much of 'Monalika' are you in real life? Any similarities with your onscreen character?
Manasi Varma > 'Monalike' is sensitive and close to her family - that is what I am like in real life.

Kish > have you learnt dancing?
Manasi Varma > Yeah, I have learnt from Shamak Davar and also learnt Katahk.

She always wanted to be a part of the glam world. So much so that when her teacher asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, pat came the reply, "Miss India!"
Her fellow-students were amused. Some ridiculed her. But that did not upset her. Meet Manasi Varma, who says she has always believed in herself and not allowed criticism to affect her decisions. "I believe in pursuing my dreams tenaciously," she says. "I have always been interested in singing, dancing and dramatics."
She was born to be an actress, she says confidently. "I remember I would dress up like heroines and drape sarees." But her dreams did not affect her studies. "I was an all-rounder," says Manasi. "Academics are important to me. I will complete my graduation through correspondence since I don't have the time to attend classes. My parents are very particular about it. They have supported my decision to get into acting but they would always want me to complete my education," she adds.
Manasi took up modelling four years ago after which she made her television debut. Apart from Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Raat Hone Ko Hai, she recently did an item number in Kkoi Dil Mein Hai. "It was fun. I enjoyed doing the item number. It was a halfday shoot at the beach." And even though she's not opposed to the idea of doing item numbers in movies, she hopes someday she will get a break in movies.
Manasi may come across as a complete extrovert, but she's an introvert. "I'm a perfect mix of beauty and brains," is how she describes herself. But her knight in shining armour is yet to come: "I'm not seeing anyone for have no time."

Manasi Verma

Fav make-out scene (Hindi): Oh my God! I loved Aishwarya Rai and Sanjay Dutt in Shabd.
Fav make-out scene (English): Obviously, Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct.
A couple I'd like to see at it: Rajpal Yadav and Aishwarya Rai, they would look so hilarious on screen.

Manasi getting film offers
The 18-year old Manasi Varma AKA Monalica of Balaji Telefilms' Kahanii Ghar Ghar Kii seems to made for bigger things.

Hardly three months old on the small screen, the temptress is getting offers to work on the big screen. And who's calling, you ask. "Well, I can't let that out. I will have to establish myself well in the KGGK before I venture into movies. I have a meaty role on plate and I am not going to throw it away. Movie offers will be plenty in future too. Future is always bright for optimistic people like me," she says. Confidence personified babe, hah! Well, what else can we say?

Lots more next week. Don't forget to tune in for the latest and the hotest news from the small screen. Its me, Vickey Lalwani, signing off. Have a great week and Merry Christmas!
