Scene : Pride theatre
There's a huge crowd waiting for a Yeh Ajeeb Zindagi play to start, lots of pushing and shoving as if it's a latest Bollywood movie. A guy is sitting and watching the news where the main actor of the play, world-famous Rana (who's also a magician) is being showered with praises and how people are desperate to watch his play. The guy tries calling someone, but there's no response. He throws the phone down.
Scene : A bungalow
A couple is sitting and having breakfast when the phone rings. (I guess it's the guy in the previous scene). The lady picks up the phone and goes aside. The caller asks her to tell her husband to pick the call. The lady addresses him as Amar and tells him that she'll do something. Her husband finishes shouting at someone on phone when the lady asks him to calm down. The doorbell rings, the lady opens the door, Amar walks in and rushes towards the man calling him sethji'. Amar begs the Sethji to once again make him a big star like Rana. The Sethji asks him to come to the theatre 3 hours before the next day's show and promises to launch him in a new way. Amar runs out, happily.
The Sethji's wife asks the Sethji as to why he made such a promise to Amar. The Sethji says that Amar is actually a very good actor, so he will plan a grand entry for Amar and if the public likes him, he'll retain him and adds that Rana was acting pricey of late.
Scene : Next day, Amar's house
Amar is getting ready for his new launch and is all excited. He drinks half a glass of milk and suddenly starts feeling dizzy. He phones the doctor.
Scene : Hospital
A hospital attendant is listening to music on the corridor when a door opens, a man comes out, slaps the attendant and runs away. He goes into the room and finds Amar dead in the room.
CID team arrives. Shreya recognises Amar. Daya finds signs of strangling on the neck. The attendant tells Daya about the guy who slapped him and ran away.
Soon Freddie gets a sketch made and Daya looks at the sketch. It's none other than Manohar, the owner of Pride theatre. (the same Sethji above)
Daya decides to quietly call him for questioning (as he's a famous guy) and goes to the theatre.
Scene : Pride theatre
There's a long queue waiting for security check. Manohar's wife has a gun in her purse and wants to avoid being checked, so she asks Manohar - the owner of the theatre to throw his weight around and ask the security to let them enter without checking. Manohar agrees and manages to bypass the security check.
Soon the manager of the theatre (a famous criminal in many CID episodes, the most famous being AKAKR - 1) welcomes Manohar and his wife and an attendant lady (dressed up like Indigo Airlines cabin crew 😆) to escort them to their special seats. Manohar is rude to her. Inside the theatre another lady asks them if they need any snacks or drinks. Manohar's wife says she wants some privacy.
After some time the play starts. The whole CID team assembles outside the theatre to capture Manohar once the play is over.
Suddenly they all hear a scream. CID team enters the hall and finds Manohar dead. He has a knife wound on his chest. Sachin finds Manohar's watch under the seat. Manohar's wife starts crying and the manager tries to console her. The wife says she didn't know how this happened.
The audience is questioned but everyone says they don't know what happened.
Abhijeet and Daya find the lead actor Rana sitting and crying in a corner. He says he was on the stage but didn't notice anything. Rana's attendant Nathi gives Rana a tablet. Daya asks him where he was when the murder happened, to which Rana replies that he was backstage and can't speak. The attendant comes running and asks CID team to solve the case so that the play can resume. Abhijeet tells him that the play won't happen till the murderer is caught.
Scene: Lab
After some analysis and discussions, Salunkhe concludes that the murder happened by a sharp knife which pierced Manohar's heart, causing a bubble of blood to enter the heart and Manohar died of air ambolism. Salunkhe says that only an expert could have hurled a knife that swiftly. (Daya gives a demo 😆)
Daya says that there's one Sajju who is an expert in using the knife and he is under arrest. Daya asks Freddie to find out which jail he's in, so that they can ask him who other than him is an expert in wielding the knife.
Scene : Auditorium
Abhijeet, Sachin, Shreya and Jaywanti continue investigation.
Shreya goes to look at the CCTV footage while Abhijeet decides to interrogate the audience once again.
Everyone is stands in a line and CID team starts checking them. Manohar's wife who has a gun gets nervous and tries to stealthily put it in the manager's pocket. The manager notices and pushes her hand away. Manohar's wife pretends to faint and asks to be taken home. Abhijeet asks Jaywanti to escort her till her car. 😕 (without checking?)
Meanwhile Shreya who's looking at the CCTV footage notices that Manohar's wife had gone out during the play. Shreya informs Abhijeet that Rita had gone out during the play and returned after 5-10 minutes (Her name is mentioned after so long! I am tired of typing Manohar's wife'! )
Abhijeet realises that Rita was only pretending to be sick and rushes to the parking lot.
Jaywanti sweetly helps her walk to the car. Exactly then Abhijeet phones Jaywanti and asks her to stop Rita. Abhijeet arrives and asks Rita where she had gone during the play. Rita says she did go out because her gun wasn't working. Abhijeet asks her why she wanted to have a gun with her. Rita says she had brought the gun into the hall to kill Manohar but the gun didn't work. Manohar had killed Amar who was a very special person in her life and Manohar was jealous, so he killed Amar. Rita wanted revenge for this. She had married Manohar only for money.
Rita says that Manohar forced her to come to the theatre on the pretext of showing a special entry and had even come to rehearse for that special entry. Rita is kept under custody.
Scene : Bureau
Sajju is brought in. Daya asks Sajju about any expert knifesman he knows of. Sajju phones a watchman and asks about a Raju who was a knifesman who used to work in a circus. The watchman says that the circus has shut shop long ago and he has no idea about Raju's whereabouts.
Daya asks Sajju to make a sketch of Raju.
Daya looks at the sketch and is surprised. He asks Freddie to call Abhijeet and inform him immediately. Freddie tries and comes back Abhijeet and the others are not responding.
Scene : Auditorium
Abhijeet and Sachin ask Yashwant (the manager, the famous spectacled culprit of CID) about the special entry.Yashwant says he doesn't know anything and he was only told by someone that 10 minutes before the play ended, he had to...Yashwant is unable to complete as a knife comes flying out of nowhere and pierces him. Yashwant dies in exactly the same fashion as Manohar. Abhijeet and Shreya rush in the direction from which the knife had come. They search the corridor but don't find anyone. Abhijeet and Shreya decide to check the men's washroom. (Shreya went in? 😆)
Inside the men's washroom, they find a small door hidden behind some bins. On opening the door, they find that it leads into a passage. Abhijeet and Shreya enter the passage.
Sachin and Jaywanti check the auditorium to see where the knife had come from.
Abhijeet and Shreya reach an underground room which has a strange lever and a ladder-like thing coming down from the ceiling. Abhijeet turns the lever to see what's happening. Suddenly, Jaywanti who is checking Manohar's seat in the auditorium gets sucked into the ground. She starts shouting and Abhijeet is surprised to see Jaywanti coming down from the ceiling.
Abhijeet explains how the murder was done. The culprit had turned the lever and brought down Manohar with this seat, killed him in the underground room and sent the chair back up. This probably happened when Rita had gone out. Just then Rana comes in with a gun.
Meanwhile, Daya and Freddie come to the auditorium and find everyone missing. Daya notices the hole in the seat where Jaywanti had gone in and hears the conversation. He decides to reach the underground room through another route.
Abhijeet in the basement tries to engage Rana in a conversation, appreciating his engineering skills, the unique lever and its design.
Rana tells the CID team that Manohar was destroying the theatre and also threatening to replace him (Rana). Rana wanted to get control of the theatre and develop it. (😕 killing for that???? and why did he have to come with a gun and reveal himself?) The underground room was designed for the special entry' and Manohar like a fool agreed to it thinking it'll be a really grand entry.
Exactly then Daya comes in and says Nathu threw the knife. A flashback shot is shown where Daya sees the sketch of Raju made by Sajju and Raju is none other than Nathu.
Nathu who is hiding is about to throw a knife at Daya and Abhijeet notices and pushes Daya away in the nick of time.. Sachin catches and slaps Nathu. Freddie catches Rana.
The two are arrested.
