CID's Portrayal of the Society..

Is it really a healthy representation of a modern indian society? or are they just stuck with the same old stereotypes?

A couple of weeks ago we saw the female trio of CID(Insp.Purvi,Dr.Tarika and Insp.Shreya) fighting eve-teasers(least to say) and send to the by-standing audience(and us)a powerful message about the feminine power.

This show has certainly moved a long way from showing female crime branch inspectors shrieking at the sight of a corpse, throwing mean comments and in-short doing everything mean high-school girls do.Quite appreciable. We also saw instances of the female cops showing their bravery and actually risking their own lives in the nation's favour.Very much appreciable.

(Insp.Purvi to Sr.Insp Abhijeet's rescue despite presence of a male cop!)

I am trying to stay really neutral here, because there are still a lot of points which still upset me about this show when it comes to represent the society as a whole and how they still somewhere are stuck with the stereotypes.

Is this show trying to portray the image of the society the makers have in their mind? or are they wanting a change? or well, are they showing us what we-you and i-want to see?

There are many such cases and a few of them i want to point out right now via this article.

Case 1:-
Biased view on domestic violence:-
Scene:Abhijeet and team wait for someone outside his door and overhear him and his wife fighting. The wife slaps the husband.Team is embarrassed.A lady cop smiles(yes,SHE SMILES!).*comic musical background*.Matter ignored.
This scene was supposed to be funny.Reverse the genders and bingo! an action sequence and lecture time by our dear cops because..men are heroes, strong, never a victim and real men just don't beat and get beaten either. Testosterone has powers to make a human insensitive to pain and to make anyone a superhero.Duh..(-_-)
As a matter of fact and something those who found this scene actually funny and the dear makers should read:-
In short the reality is more husbands than wives commit suicide due to many forms of domestic violence.Funny still..huh?
Awareness is what needs to be spread and not stereotypes.

Case 2:-
What the empowered women do in their free time:-
Shopping-giggly-wiggly-shopping-ice cream-my BF your BF-shopping..(-_-)
Shopping
Shopping
Shopping!

Case 3:-
Abhijeet-Tarika relationship:-
Ok.I am one socially awkward person and i was confused if my on-screen idol's jealousy was healthy..or not.Googled and am still confused-if i should be be calling Abhijeet-Tarika relationship even a relationship.
No matter how hard he tries Tarika never seems to be satisfied when it came to explaining why she goes shopping with another new male colleague.Shopping with him wasn't a problem till she complained about Abhijeet not spending time with her, being a workaholic and that being the reason of her shopping with another guy.Really? (-_-) Yes,BFs have to shop with you.If he does't,time to search for a new BF! (-_-)

But Abhijeet thought that she actually does want to spend time with HIM and not really shopping so he finally decided to spare a few hours.
But..Tarika is unimpressed because cummon you know! She loves workaholic guys!
and well...you know which scene am i referring to here

She never trusts him at first, never, but supports him after she gets the explanation and proof of his innocence. He trusts her,and is possessive about her when she is in trouble.Flirts with her(so manly and professional..Duh(-_-)).
Her responses are unpredictable.Lack of communication from both sides.
She plays on his weaknesses,insecurities.
Unrealistic expectations and confusion,confusion,confusion.
Is there no healthier way in which a romantic relationship between two colleagues develop? It's stagnant as of now..for good.Least to talk about Daya-Shreya track, epitome of confusion persists here.

Case 4:-
The bad yet good world:-
Children below age 16 please don't read this, because it's ok for you to see Dr.salunkhe and the autopsies he performs,it's ok for you to see people getting shot, getting their necks broken to death, frozen corpses, burnt corpses, etc.BUT it's NOT ok for you to see,or even hear of child marriages, knowing the 'bad touch'...err...Just no! It's so embarrassing that we would prefer not facing it than letting the kids know about it,before it's too late.http://nobadtouch.com

And..btw when was the last time we saw CID investigating a case involving corruption/scams?

Case 5:-
Family life:-
Which family? What Family? I am an orphan.I am single and confused if i am ready to mingle because we are to busy to have a family.Adoption is the only way we continue the family tree.Duh..(-_-)

...
Well,i believe CID should try new ideas since the audience wants them.Yes,staying on the old formula is safe, but it never clears the path for innovation.
CID is very popular, especially among kids,so why not portray a strong role model for kids to follow than promoting the stereotypes and get updated with the age?

You know what. ..I agree with all your points. 😆
About the crimes they show. ..'Poisonous Nail' was the only time they showed a proper crime against a woman. That episode was sensitively very well handled. I wish they made more like it. 😒

Its very well written Mini, I totally agree.
Instead of showing , portraying things for awareness and entertainment, they should also work on improving social security, like CP does.Of course about Tji, Id rather not talk about it, cause if I start ill be graving myself😆 Atleast she decided to trust him in the end. That Daya shreya track , dragged it for a month lamely, and then it vanished into thin air.The way they handle these romantic tracks makes me wonder if the whole writing crew is bachelors and bachelorette.

Thanks for bringing these matters in light Mini.very well written...👍🏼 👏
About AT n DS relationships,i also agree that fw ppl don't know how to handle this properly...
Long ago, when Cid started, their main focus was crime and investigation only...since face off series,i think they started showing the personal sides and characters of the cops..( sorry if i m wrong) showing a cop orphan and all is just to earn sympathy from the viewers...but seriously it is too much now...

About women power, yes i think they r showing very well through our female cops as we have seen in some previous episodes...😊 they must bring some social problems against women but in a proper way...
I liked how Purvi helped that girl in the episode Box mein hatya..👍🏼
Also,in the last night episode,Abhijeet encouraging the girl to fight for her own, that scene was very much realistic and not based on superhero action and i really liked it👍🏼...it means they want to show social problems and not doing stunts all the time just to impress kids...😊

Apart from showing crimes- murder, bomb blasts etc.,they also. made episodes showing some social messages like
Baal majdoori episode,
Dahej ka danav-dahej related,
Box mein hatya-eve teasing,
Naari shakti and all..but the main problem is they don't accomplish it properly..

We see the weaker side of Abhijeet with Tji.The insecure, nervous, emotionally dependent and emotionally unintelligent side of his.😔 Thankfully DS track ended *hopes*
Is that in any way a healthy relationship? No.

great post Mini..👍🏼agree with all ur points..FW is a total Anari in handling love tracks...AT-DS tracks r complete disasters and i feel these tracks r responsible for ruining the image of the characters and the show to a great extent...its high time FW should end these stupid love tracks and give us some relief ...

I am single and have negligible experience in being in romantic relationships, but any grown up chap has the common sense about what a healthy romantic relationship is supposed to be like.😳
