A BLESSING

I stood drenching myself in the rain,

The gentle drops touching my heart, taking away all my pain,

Yet tears trickled down my cheeks,

I cried like I never did in weeks

Out of loneliness that none can comprehend.

I got angry, and others with words I did offend,

I seemed mad, I seemed cruel,

But only I was fighting it, the duel.

Groping madly for the sun's beam,

Hoping someone would hear my silent scream

And see those unseen tears sprinting downward,

To fathom that I'm not a coward,

To wipe those years and bring my smile back,

Which lay like a needle in a haystack.

To wipe them away reached some hands,

Those eyes promised to walk with me through dreary desert sands,

It was a promise, not fake, not in the air,

It was just true, it was just fair.

For the word was meant to be kept,

That was the last day I wept

For a distant hug always they gave

Whenever I felt, I was in a dark cave.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I realized

This time of happiness and not of pain,

For I knew, of pain I would never cry again,

Because always with me are... MY FRIENDS!
