Anoop Soni |
Anoop Soni gets into the shoes of Mohnish Behl and is all set to play Suyash Mehra in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Says Soni, "I had not been following the show before Balaji approached me.
Now, I've been regularly watching it to get a feel of the foundation set by a seasoned actor like Mohnish.
When you are replacing someone on television, you have to get your basics right as the viewers are tuned to the character."
Pressure's on
Are expectations to high? "I wouldn't call it pressure but there's a slight scepticism about how well I will settle into the role. Our creative director, Sandiip Sikcand, has been briefing me during the extensive narrations and it's helping me a lot. But I have to add my own flavour to the framework.
The show will have me wearing formal suits with classic cuts and rich colours. It's going to be more fancy than the sober ones I sported during my CID days."
This is not Soni's first stint with Balaji Telefilms. The actor had previously shot for ten days while playing a cameo in Kahin To Milenge on SaharaOne.
Adds Soni, "Balaji Telefilms has always been kind to me. In fact, I couldn't take up a few shows because of my film commitments. I was offered the role of Anupam Kapadia and Mihir in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi. I'm glad I've finally made it."
Greying well
While a creative difference saw Mohnish Behl's ouster, Soni seems comfortable with the impending plot.
"I'm focussing on the equation my character shares with Parvati Agarwal. What appeals to viewers is Suyash Mehra's attitude and chemistry with Parvati. And playing an older character was never a problem with me," he says.
