As schools gear up for a summer break, DNA YA! promises to keep the kids occupied enough.Funshala — the annual kids' workshop organised by DNA, at the Sahara Star Hotel, kick started this Friday with much excitement amongst the kids. A three day long event, Funshala — in its fourth consecutive year — is packed with a wide array of activities for eager kids.

The first day of the event (April 29) started with a half an hour long workshop by the Chinmaya Mission group, trying to instill a moral note into the participants — about 140 kids in the age group of eight to 14.

Up next was the individual group activity conducted by the Iken Brain Gym — the content partner for forensic sciences — wherein the kids were divided into groups and were given a few forensic related mysteries to solve. And the groups that managed to come up with the right results in the least time span was declared the winner.

Special guests for the occasion were the trio from the TV show, CID — doctor Salukhe, inspector Daya and doctor Tarika. It was an adorable sight to see the tiny tots going gung-ho as they welcomed Doctor Salukhe and inspector Daya — who walked in together — with loud cheers!

The young participants bombarded them with questions even as some shouted out their favourite dialogues from the show. While every other kid was superbly excited and interacting with these two telly heroes, eight-year-old Ansh couldn't keep his eyes off the door as he waited patiently for Doctor Tarika (alias Shraddha) to arrive. And once she was in, the delight on Ansh's face was evident as his eyes brightened from under his thick brimmed round glasses. Vedant Vaidya, studying in 11th standard, was a bit disappointed to not have been able to get an autograph of the CID stars. "My sister threatened me to not return without an autograph… even my granny wanted one," smiles Vedant.

"I did not expect this… the excitement of these kids, the way they remembered every dialogue was just incredible," says Shraddha. Dayanand Shetty (Daya) asserts that it's the kids who have revived the show. "They watch the repeat telecasts as well. My daughter's friends tell her 'ask your dad how they solved the mystery'".
