One hand we say we should make the forum lively and on the other hand we put so many restrictions. Are we contradicting our own thoughts?
I beleive we should have some discipline to keep our CID forum from getting cluttered but if we do it hard, I beleive new comers may get scared and run away and existing ones like me may hesitate. Even the Ganesha post I posted here, I did that with lot of apprehension and to be safe put a liner saying if someone didn't like it ignore it.
Actually my 'like' was for the first para. 😆 Thanks....
This thread is about the negativity prevailing on the forum with respect to the upcoming episodes and the nonsense they are showing.
Your post is sort of off-topic, because it mentions newbies and existing members hesitating to make posts. I have mentioned before - we need freedom on this forum too. Someone suggested that newbies should not be allowed to open threads. I didn't agree to that.
Someone joining has to go through the forum and get a feel of what discussion is going on and what are the rules and regulations, FAQs etc. They cannot just barge in and open a poll saying "who should Abhijeet have an affair with". It is disgusting.
Think in a real life situation...you walk into a room full of people. Do you just start talking irrelevant stuff or do you first introduce yourself to the existing people and then start listening to what they are talking and then say whatever you want to. Do you just rush in without knocking and say "C'mon guys let's talk about Britney Spears". How polite and civilised is that? The existing people will be in the middle of something else and may find this behaviour rude and mannerless.
And as far as possible, whenever someone new comes here, I have taken the effort to PM them the Rules thread. Some of them don't seem to be bothered about it. I don't want to mention any names.
Then the fact remains that the conventions of cyberspace are different, but to some extent people have to follow some basic manners.
