So, what's the point of promoting a show that already is widely recognized among people? Instead if they even spend that time bettering the plot and the character making, dialogues, background score etc, they might create wonders and the old charm and zest of CID might revive. Additionally, more and more people will watch CID, and this time around, for the right reasons, and not because of funny scenes etc.

Having said all this, I would vote for 'yes' but still, if they do HAVE to create a promo, make one that does not beat around the bush and one without any BS, don't create unnecessary hype among the loyal fans of CID because it really serves no purpose.

I agree debayon. Promos are meant for those shows who need to get audience. Though, the show itself has a huge fan following, why destroy the excitement? People who are true CID fans while watch the show regardless of how promos are based on. I personally never watch promos but I just wait for fridays & saturdays to see whats all about.. Its completely different from watching a show every friday and saturday without watching promos and watching promos and then watching those cases. I never really wanna know whats the promos are about unless its has something to do with CID team. Its tough to live upto expectations for creatives when promos are shown. Most of the time, promos show completely different story from case itself. Which is why it fails to corelate or we fail to connect with the case.

I don't think promo is bad thing. It shows us the preview of what is coming to us. It tells us the story in short. It brings us the passion to see. It makes us energetic and interested about the show.

But I am agree, promo should be right and to the point, not like today's episode. It was worthless and meaningless.

They should bring the real story to us, not the hype. CID has its TRP. It doesn't require extra.

Sorry for bringing this thread back again, but I am just saddened by the turn of events here.

The promo shows something, upon which the actual episode has no correlation whatsoever..if they gie us skewed information, or something ovrly glossy to get us hooked onto the show(inadvertantly hurting our sentiments when the episode airs), what's the point of watching the promos?

@ Debayon, I agree with you.
Now I am having a doubt whether they will show the blast, accidents(that are shown in the promo) in the series itself or they have made it just for the promo.
If the same thing happens as in case of "CID in fire" then it will be a real disaster.

@debayon i think promos provide base to success in both TV and BW. even if its a hit show. although purpose of promos are different in both cases. in movies they have to introduce a new concept or theme so they need to attract viewers, and in TVserials mostly purpose is to show next storyline coming up. what ever is the case promos cannot be skipped, they need to hook up the viewers but u r right in saying that there should be correlation with the episode.
now talking about akhari chunauti promo and 2 episodes of this week. its obvious from episodes in last few months that CID production team is already having trouble in making decent cases in 60 minutes episode. now they have come up this idea of making a series of 9 episodes with a single main case for which they have given this 90 seconds promo containing everything, the plan, attack on the CID team and then their return, now with this main script they would have easily made a 2 hours episode ful of suspense, thrill and action, with no need of side stories. in 9 episodes they are definitely going to show attack on trio and trio will return, but as per their plan they have to stretch this 90seconds into 32400seconds, so pace of the case is obviously going to be slow. and after watching Saturday episode, i think they will continue with the minor side cases in up coming episodes too, with main theme of akhari chunauti in background.may be it would gear up in last 2 or 3 episodes, but till then being loyal fans we have to bear whatever is going on.

Frankly even after yesterday's disaster I am not upset with the Promo. I think it encapsulated what the series is as a whole - CID put into deep trouble and the team fights it out till the very end despite all odds. That is what I see in the promo. I have no problem with that. The way PART I started it was inline with the promo IMO.
I have a promblem with what was shown yesterday. Calling it AAKHRI CHUNAUTI - PART II and showing some disconnected rubbish. If this is what you want to do, prepare us for it. Don't cheat us. You could have easily prepared us for it by showing bits of this case in the Precap shown at the end of PART I.
To me what they did in the PART I precap was cheating not what they showed in the promo.

Yes, promos attract new viewers, but viewers are not fool,, if repeatedly this thing happens ie, promos are attractive but not the episodes, no body will watch.

No, I'm sorry, we seem to disagree on the definition of the term. Promo is an abbreviation of promotion, which is to promote a product, not to show the next stoyline of the show.
