Today I was watching some cid videos online. I watched both the current ones and the old ones as well. As usual I found that d old cases up to the period before Anushka came were really authentic...

I have noticed certain points of difference between 3 sets of periods- The era from Abhijeet's entry (I didnt watch Viren cases except Stolen Gun because I find his era a bit boring, No Offence) to Anushka's entrry, the era from Anushka era to Muskaan's departure and the era after that tilll entry of d new officers.

The first era-
1. The cases dealt with a variety of issues, unusual ones as well as usual ones.
2. The investigative procedures were fantastic, fast-paced, innovative (Given the technology of those days).
3. The use of police, helpers, ambulance people to carry to hosptal/forensic lab, sniffer dogs, large operations etc led to the authentic feel.
4. CID serial stuck to the true nature of CID- Detection skills, Variety of cases and Not ONLY solving ordinary murder cases which can be solved by police.
5. CID was not much called by the ordinary man, Very rarely!

The second era-
1. The cases were fresh but somewhere the seriousness of the concept started deviating.
2. Mundane cases were solved in an unusual manner but the charm of old exciting cases was slowly going away.
3. Cases were not as thrilling as the older ones but were really good in their own ways.
4. Some of the elements like sniffer dogs, helpers etc disappeared.
5. Th team suddenly seemed to be small, carrying out even mundane tasks that were originally done by police helpers.
5. However this period did produce really good cases...

The third era-
1. Technology having advanced, forensic scenes were good but not as authentic.
2. Slowly the cases became murder cases. Occassionally Very good cases were made. But...
3. Gradually some episodes have become less professional, more emotional and with jokes and unnecessary scenes taking up most of the screen space.
4. Though the trio was always consistent, having gradually transfered from one phase to another, side actors have become inconsistent, with exceptions here and there.
5. The quality of cases have started to waver a lot, specially in the years 2008 and 2009 and now we enter the fourth phase with the entrance of the newcomers.

I have no comments on the next era because i want to give them a year...

NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE- Just A Personal Opinion.

I completely agree with the descriptions of the 3 eras that u dealt with! And yes lets not get into the discussion of the present era. Its just the beginning.. Age age dekho hota hai kya!!! 😆
on a serious note, the first era u spoke abt was the most logical of all... Plot wise, set wise it was the neatest n most sensible. There were many such cases where CID was handed the case by Police whoch is the real formal procedure. Inspite of being new to the industry of their time, they managed to win the first dedicated fans of all time.

The next era, plot wise... They were ineresting.. But now, we saw a better co-ordinated team... A team who knew each other more personally now. They shared fun moments many a times. So most probably an era which has some of the most touching and funny(within limits) scenes! Abhi-Daya pairing was now more developed. There was no glimpse of Senior - junior behaviour between them! Acp was geting a little tougher day by day... But still, it was almost the same Acp! Freddy was slight changed. No
more the only standin at the nck even in discussions scenes! He was a part of team discussions but noy always fruitful! Mostly used as a funny elemnt! But bearable...

Followed by the next era. Plots almost shifted to murders! Abhi started wearing his coats!!! 😆
ACP started to shout more often! Daya tuned completely into a trademark door breaker n last scene slapper! 😆 Freddy portrayed as a completely turned joker jo is good for nothing! Taarika - Abhi flirting started in the meantime.... Side actors were inconsistent! We lost Sridhar raghavan as the writer....(a gr8 loss!)

The 2008-2009 era was the first of all... CID was at its extreme low with sone imprivements here n there. but still, The 12 years of CID has been a pleasure for all of us... 😃

Drilabh - I agree with all your points. The first era was undoubtedly the Golden Age of CID featuring almost everything we love, and the second era was still really fun to watch despite its flaws. The only positive thing I can say about the 2008-2009 period is that we got two very good officers - Vivek and Tasha, and there were a few good episodes depicting the team bond like Beherupiya. The quality is showing an upward trend recently, so fingers crossed that it keeps going, touch wood. 😊

I totally agree with all the points Drilabh. The first era was undoubtedly the best. But, the second era is good too. Like you said, it did have unique cases and lots of light hearted moments.

I wish they'd try to include that kind of light-hearted humour in the current era. Till recently (read pre-signature campaign), it was like, humour means Fredricks acting stupid or Abhi-Tarika flirting. And right now, they have sort of completely given up on any kind of humour and light-hearted conversations.... I'd like to see some casual conversations and subtle humour like from the second era that's mentioned above.

Totally agree on points everyone is making..But we have to accept that thanks to great work by firework in each era we got something precious and unforgettable ...Talking about starting era, there is no doubt that, it was the unmatchable era when it comes to truthfulness of Police...background work was its peak... technology was so realistic that i feel in love as a small kid...Forensic lab has its own identity,...Most importantly, our all time favorite team was there.. 😊 then came Second Era, Forensic scenes were up to down..i mean sometimes these were so good in Doctor Niyati Time and sometimes i was avoiding these While Dr. Anjilika...but one thing is fact that this era gave us some great episodes which have written in golden words in history of Cid..Side actors are good...Background work was not too back..So for me it was satisfactory period...Now comes to Third era, Forensic became platform of models and Comedy Circus... Freddy turned out to be an comedian rather than dedicated CID officer...Side Actors were not as good as previous eras...but thanks to Trio, we had some really good performances which turned out to be sweet memories for us... Hope for best next 😊 😛

Hmmm I will put my thoughts differently though I hope I stick to the topic.

If you ask me mystery-wise, performance-wise, script-wise in other words when you could feel that everyone was on their toes, working really hard was from 1998-2004 when Asha was a round. For me the First Era is the Era of Asha. It's easier to divide based on ladies in the teams because we have seen regular entries and exists. When Viren was around, it may seem boring to a few, we are so used to Abhi Sir that when we see CID without him it's just not CID for us. Even I felt the same when I saw one or two cases during re-runs but those cases have that old DD feel to them and Viren won me over. I think 2002 was the bestest year of CID when almost every case was a classic and memorable. I don't think it has a single uninteresting case. There used to be clear distinction between why a case is handled by CID and not Mumbai Police.

For me CID changed forever since Asha left and Daksh came in, the downward trend started since then, somewhere this one of the reasons why I hate Daksh so much. With him came his brother's story, his tiffs with officers, followed by Anjalika and her drama. The daily soapish drama which seemed to work in saas-bahu sagas running that time entered into CID. And the most bakwas trend that started was promotion of other Sony shows, something that is on till date; wonder when CID will get rid of it. I used to hate constant reference of SB in regular CID and their cross over cases. I am not saying that we did not have good cases after that, of course we did else how could the series survive till date but it has never been the same for me since Asha left, with her the best era of CID ended.

After Asha's Era, I think Anushka-Muskaan era was decent. Raghavan Sir was still around and we got some good cases. During this period the daily-soapish drama was reduced, we had good comedy and we had THE Dr Niyati Pradhan. Cases still had variety. CID became once a week hourly show and that gave scope for team bonding scenes, casual conversations, good natured leg pulling, etc.

The Kaveri-Lavanya-Devyana era has by far been the worst era ever in CID. Women in the team started losing their place. Dr Salunkhe was back, good news but in a very horrible OTT flashy bickering avatar, bad news. Mumbai Police went missing totally. A lot of bad special effect was introduced and Forensic scenes became garish. It was Khoon Khoon and more Khoon all the time. Clues to solve cases seemed to come straight out of Arabian Nights. Freddie turned from jovial to joker. Clues highlighted to elevate drama and totally ignored once the drama is over. Logic went missing. The creative team seemed to sleepwalk through episodes week after week. They lost their way and did not seem to know how fill the running time of the show, so a bunch of stupid tracks were introduced. Even average to good cases became rare, forget getting classics. Everyone seemed to lose interest the creative team and the audience.

However things change with Beherupiya last year. The audience came back but the creative team was still not back in form. However in the past couple of months we have seen some improvement and if we were still with the once-a-week format, CID would have been back to what it was in say 2006 but with new people we are still where we were.

Drilabh, nice topic something on which I always wanted to discuss

Yes there have been a lot of changes that have come into CID with time, some acceptable and some not.Now coming to era's or rather phases of CID:-

1st era:- well for me this era is Viren's era-This era had some very good cases, since in that time CID was just a new-born child,a little new to the audience so such cases were exciting and interesting, but for me this era was a little boring(no offence),maybe because I didn't see many episodes from this era.

2nd Era:-This era is my favourite era ever,I still miss it even after so many years and still wish ki kaash woh waapis aa jaye, this for me was the ASHA era(i.e.the era that had max.of Asha),this era had the best moments and best stories,we got some lovely cases which set a benchmark that till now no other era has touched, excellent cases and proper investigation mixed with some lovely team moments was the charm of this era, this era properly showed what is CID mainly about,I still miss Tipsy(the sniffer dog),original Dr.Salunkhe a lot.Dr.Salunkhe was lovely in this time and forensic scenes were what I used to wait for, this era also saw the change in Abhi-Daya relationship,it had two officers who at first had senior junior relation turning into two such good friends ki till date,it is one of the main reasons as to why we watch CID,we had Mumbai police being involved and more authentic cases, cases which are still fresh in mind and we can talk for hours if we start off but the main charm of this era was Raghavan Sir,the stories he wrote were just too good and I bet no one can match them we all still wish he comes back and writes some more CID stories, don't we ??we saw Abhi-Daya bonding getting better but we also saw our then great duo ACP-Salunkhe friendship being lost

3rd era-This was mainly Dr.Anjalika era, very good in terms of cases, also had some moments we still cherish but the 1st half of this era had some changes we can never forget i.e. Asha leaving CID,it was like a big blow to Asha fans and when Aditi entered,I personally found it difficult to accept her but slowly by the time I got used to her she was dead.Along with her the inclusion of Daksh was a pain even though I liked Manav Gohil,I didn't like his character but yes cases wise again this was a great era ,we slowly started losing Tipsy, police involvement etc. During this era CID also dealt with some officers personal issues as well but yes chaahe jo bhi kehloo this era gave some wonderful cases like Abhijeet in Danger,Staged murder,Code name Banjara and how could we miss out on CID 111,the episode which made all CIDians proud,we saw some lovely moments and painful moments during this time,Abhijeet-Daya friendship prospered but again I missed our Dr. Salunkhe badly, but yes one special thing this era had was the Christabelle D'Souza she started writing stories during this era and these turned out to be quite good

4th era-After Aditi to somewhat Muskaan's exit era, this era was neither bad nor good era for me,we saw many changes during this time, new characters coming and going, but yes there was some emptiness in CID that I felt, female officers level fell down, but 2 parts of this era i really loved were Dr.Niyati and Vivek, these two characters made the show really nice but from this era we started loosing out on are actual Freddy sir he was slowly being turned from a some jokes cracker into a king of foolish one, that was the most unacceptable part of this era.

5th era after Muskaan era-this according to me was one of the most painful era's especially female officers wise,Introduction of Lavanya,Kaveri,Devyana etc. were some horrible choices by fireworks but yes we saw new friendship being developed between Freddy and Vivek which was kind of sweet and nice. Cases turned out to be so so but yes this era also showed us the human behind two of our favourite officers,Abhi-Daya,we can never forget Khoon Bhari Holi(which showed our Daya sir in a lovely manner),Abhi-Shruti episodes(who thought ki this cop who was a very serious guy could fall in love(true love) ??),Abhi sir liking someone and she leaving him was a very motional phase but yes the way Daya sir was their with his best friend was lovely, and how can one forget Nanhi gavah ?? it was just so beautiful, the main attraction of this era were Abhi-Daya.This era also saw the entry of Taasha, one female officer I really liked after Asha, though at first I didn't like her much but slowly she did become a part of our fav team, but yes cases wise this was the worst ere,we all started fearing that CID is losing it charm forever 2009 had some cases which we don't want to remember but yes this phase also has given us some cases which we count in the best moments be it Behroopiya(I still cry when I see it),Khoon ki Holi,Sr.Inspector Abhijeet etc. etc. but gain these were very less compared to some very bad episodes(truely speaking I don't even remember the name of some),this and its previous era also had Dr.Salunkhe come back but he wasn't the same,he had changed totally along with the entry of Dr.Taarika a character who atleast I have not been able to digest, also the turning of our supercop ABhijeet into a flirt was unbearable, but this episode did have a wonderful case that showed our duo's friendship in a lovely manner,Sr.Inspector Abhijeet-this case was a lovely memory for Abhi-Daya duo lovers, showed both our officers going through testing times

Now the present after new people's entry,Don't know what to say,CID kind of lost its sheen after new people's entry and cases became worse only memorable case after new entries has been Abhijeet in coma, the turning of CID into biweekly when there are no proper scripts available made the situation worse, all I can say is lets hope for the best

The Main Charm of all these era's has been ACP,Abhi,Daya and we hope they'll continue to be the charm for many more years
