CID cops solve murder

SHIMLA: These 'CID cops' were

thoroughly professional and

natural. So much so that when

they were chasing a person on

the busy Mall as par}; of a shoot

for popular detective thriller

serial'CID', one of tjt passers-

ed by show's creatq'ip.P. Singh

did the shoot in snow at

Dhundhi ahead of Manali, and

then on the busy Mall of Shimla

over the last week to solve a

murder mystery in snow. But

hardly anybody got wind of it.

This despite the fact that its

characters are familiar faces.

"It's a detective thriller and

its success is its naturalness.

The characters have been

shown working secretively like

real CID cops. We do have to

shift places of shoot and cam-

era subtly sometimes, if peo-

ple start watching Us, it spoils

the show," said B.P. Singh. 'CID'

happens to be the longest run-

ning serial on television so far.

The episode shot in Himachal

will be 612th and will be tele-

cast on March 26. The serial

started in 1998, and its spirit

has been creativity and the

team.

"Most of us have'continued

to work in it since its launch.

We enjoy doing every bit of it

even today. The caste and char-

acters are its strength. All of

us actually appear to be CID

cops," shared Shivaji Satam,

60, who is playing th lead role

ofACPPrdumah, He said the

serial had Been able to sustain

for so long as it's a real team.

"There is no one upmanship,"

Satam said.

He, however, seemed a bit

demoralised with little pro-

jection in the media about the

longest shot of 111 minutes with

2,000 camera moments in a

CID episode, for which the show

had entered the Guinness Book

of World Records.

The main characters of ACP

Praduman, Daya (Dayanand

Shetty), and Abhijit (Aditya

Srivastava), Vivek (Vivek) and

many others have now become

household names, with chil-

dren their most ardent fans.

"There has been lots of

response from children, wher-

ever we go. And I think, that's

our biggest success," said

; Stam.

"'CID'was rather a complete

family serial, which is liked by

members of all age groups. We

do not offer them anything

embarrassing or shots of crime

happening, which may invite

awkward questions from chil-

dren," he observed.

He along with Dayanand

Shetty and Aditya^ivastava

were seen mingling with kids

: without any airs or hitches

on Tuesday evening, even after

a tiring day.

"It's like that. Most of us have

concentrated on 'CID'. We work

for 20-25 days a month for the

shoots. It's satisfying," said
