Hey Guys,

I have news for you...it's pretty old actually, but I was looking through some old articles and found this.

Did you know that Ramayan reached 5.00 TRPs during its peak episodes?😲 Oh my God! That's a LOT of TRPs which many popular shows even don't have nowadays, and people were totally unaware of it!

I knew the show was well-received by audience, but not like this! I wasn't part of the Ramayan forum during it's earlier days so I never knew, but I'm really proud that a mythological show got such high TRPs.

Now we have an answer to give to those who claim Ramayan was never popular, along with solid evidence.😛 Will look for more articles, and also some old TRP charts from the Ramayan forum.

Yeah, I agree with you! Serials should be short and to the point like they used to be on Doordarshan and all. Nowadays they drag on for years and years, and the magic of the show is lost somewhere in the middle. Or, if they want a long show, they should do tracks that are quick and precise like Chidiya Ghar. It too is one show, but it is compiled of a bunch of short stories, each of which last for about 4-5 episodes, so that nothing ever drags and each track is funny and entertaining in its own way.

And yes, I like how the comedy is not overdone like in other shows. There is still normal family interaction and also valuable lessons in-between. It seriously deserves the #1 spot in the channel, but #2 is not bad either and I'm really happy it's doing well.👏

I joined the Ramayan Forum during the middle-end of the show, when Yudh Kand was in full swing and the vanar sena was one by one defeating Ravan's warriors, and the TRPs, while being great at that time (over 3 at least) were not 5, so I did not know it had ever reached that high. But apparently, the 5 TRPs happened during the Aranya, Kishkindha, and Sundar Kand tracks, the peak part of the show that had viewers literally hooked. Still though, I'm really happy that Ramayan had such high TRPs. People literally cannot discount that. Many may say that they did not know Gurmeet at all during Ramayan, but so what? That does not proove anything because it cannot explain away the 5 TRPs. Ramayan attracted many viewers from all age-groups, not just adolescents and young adults, so it explains why many adolescents and young adults (who are generally not wont to watch mythological shows) did not know about Gurmeet till after PPAW.

Thank you Janaki for article..I am also fed up by the statements that no one knows about Gurmeet before Geet...I think some fans thought that any serial they haven't seen, can't be a big hit. Ramayan was a big hit and appricated by all age group..even Ramayan forums was so active even I have joined after the end..but still it was so active

Yes di it did...i always was part of the ramayan forum...n it was like the only show that truly worked on imagine

and what the channel is today is bcoz of ramayan...even guru got his first award coz of ramayan only...so only a fool will say that ramayan was not popular ...see i have proof😉
